Just think about it, it adds an extra currency that is entirely unnecessary, on top of already spending a lot in credits as well to craft. Why not just have credits instead?

Seems it’s too convenient for players. You could buy mercs, case, bronze cards for credits much faster, by recycling cards.
This would reduce the need for gamble, which SD heavily relies on.
They have already said there is a new crafting system in the making. There is no point questioning the current one now.
the new new crafting system will be a combination of the new crafting system and the old crafting system. a mix of trade ups and fragments for getting cards. so discussing the new crafting system is still usefull.
In the trade up system you needed the equivalent of a certain amount of lead cards in order to trade up a card. There was also a previous rarity requirement.
Crafting removed the rarity requirement by introducing nonrarity based fragments. Now you need the equivalent of a certain amount of fragments in order to craft a card.
basically instead of using cards you use fragments of cards.
Cards were technically a currency themselves in the trade up system.
That is at least some of my thoughts from thinking on the matter
Because then there will be no point in buying equipment cases for 1,000 credits. People won’t do this gambling
Also, you will be able to use these credits to get mercs and stuff you are not supposed to be able to get with loadout cards
