Why can noobs join normal servers when half are for them only

(Ctrix) #1

I just was on a server with one premade group vs 3 level 1s and they refused to leave over multiple rounds, even when I told them there was training servers. It was a spawn camp. If there weren’t better ways to farm XP I’d think they’re doing that on purpose.

They were crouch walking!

I’d play competitive, but oh wait. It’s full of cheaters.

I know the feeling. It’s very annoying when you have both teams about even in skill, and then they get another player of average level and you get a level 3 player…

Max level 5 servers should possibly be mandatory for levels 1-4. There’s no real disadvantage, new players may not be able to play with friends I suppose but hitting level 5 takes like 2 hours.

The only truly terrible consequence would be if there were no new players so they couldn’t play at all.

Perhaps an alternative, if a player quick joins while level 1-4 it joins a max level 5 server if it can find one, otherwise joins a normal one. Most new players quick join anyway.

It already does this, just like it already prefers min level 10 servers for those who qualify.

I have never had this problem. Just give them a warm welcome and they should leave.

(ThomaZe) #6

And with cheats they are after all fairly good. zzZZzz

Crouchwalking? Hahrr Hahr Hahrrr!

The problem with making those under level 5 join a level 1-4 server forcefully is that you never quite know when you’ll get an influx of new players. It may work for current player numbers, but if a large number of players join Dirty Bomb at once, it risks not having enough server space for them thereby losing players. This will then leave SD with a choice - either increase the number of max level 5 servers or lose players; the former option thereby either causes a possibly unrequired cost expenditure or for current open servers to be switched to max level 5s, which is detrimental to those who might be above that level.

Levels 1-5 should preferentially join one of the max level 5 servers however, if they don’t already.

I totally agree that it is annoying though.

The crouch walking throws me off sometimes. Had a skyhammer crouch walking right next to me earlier today, I damn near castrated him in chat. Did he even watch the tutorial?!

(MTLMortis) #10

Hey, how about instead of bitching about the little nubcakes you take some time and show them the ropes. Leadership goes a long way towards encouraging the community to grow positively.

(Ctrix) #11

I do that all the time in games. You’ve never seen a more noob patient player than me. I’ve spent hours in MMOs teaching people who used group finder for an instance the ropes of their roles. But these were just laughing at me for “whining”

(Anaconda) #12

What is “crouch walking” ?

(-0wnage-) #13

Walking whilst crouching.
