I laughed at General’s post, especially where he acted like Counter-Strike requires no skill. Plus he’s wanting to play Homefront 1v1, that’s comedy gold. Didn’t that game fail just as hard as BRINK?

By the way, can you play like f0rest in your little MAG? I’d love to see you wallbang people like he does at 20sec in. I think everyone here can agree that this video shows that CS:S is full of skill, lol.

Also it’s not really a 1v1 kind of game… like arena shooters, fighting games, and rts’. Which is why I thought it was amusing he mentioned bf3.

“Skill” is a subjective term here. If you are talking about difficulty to use/master, then console wins. Why do you think console games have an auto-aim option? Because it’s much more difficult to aim with an analog device using your thumbs. It’s meant to lower the learning curve/skill ceiling, to try and make them more on par with using a mouse - which is far easier (and more precise) to aim with.

i dont count Wii sports (76 million) as that comes with every store bought wii.

im on a roll here, but the major consensus says that the best selling game cross platforms ever was CoD black ops (16 million copies) i dont see how that works i guess cause the revenue not sheer numbers.

out of all those games i don’t see a single PC one… wanna know the top selling pc game ever??

The thing you are forgetting about this “nerdgasm machine,” is that it is a tool, where a console is simply an entertainment device - gaming is only one of the things you can do on a PC. Even if you add in watching DVD’s/Blu-Rays and listening to music, (or whatever else you can do on console) these are only a very small fraction of what you can accomplish on a PC. You get what you pay for.

You also compare the sales from the original Super Mario Bros. game the The Sims. Super Mario Bros. was released in 1985, whereas The Sims was released in 2000. SMB had 26 years to accumulate 40 million units sold - The Sims has only been out for 11 years. If you break it down annually:

Super Mario Bros. sold around 1,538,461 units per yr.
The Sims sold around 1,454,545 units per yr.

this means annually, SMB only outsold The Sims by 83,916 units. A negligible number considering

It has been out 15 years more than The Sims
It is was released at a time when PC gaming was practically unheard of, and still today, PC gaming (in terms of number of people playing) is still the minority compared to console

… nothing against consoles, but you can’t really compare apples with cucumbers … I will buy (again) a console too (XBox “Gears of War - Edition”), but I will play different kind of games on it … consoles are good for games like Mortal Combat or Need for Speed … they last longer, so you don’t have to spend always money for upgrades on it, but on the other hand you will get not as nice graphics like on a high-end-gaming-pc …

… the wonderful side of a console is, buy one, get it connected, show your girlfriend / wife the power button and buy her some childish games and you will have your piece …

… buy her a pc and the drama begins, if she is only a standard female …

… that is the ONLY reason why consoles are such popular …

My post was SPECIFICALLY about skill ceillings and player gaps in Brink, QW, and CS, which was all mentioned in the OP and my post.

I posted on topic, and some butthurt scrubs replied with, “NO WAYz YOU ARE JUST A CONSOLE SCRUB SO YOU HAVE NO VOICE, SHUT UP”
That’s where the pc vs console BS came from.

By the way, I didn’t comment on any game that I had NOT played plenty of time on in the past, which can’t be said for the little elitist trolls. But, whatever. It’s no hair off my back if a bunch of nerdy little scubs want to post irrational nonsense on splashdamage forums.
