Why are swear words censored on the forums when mercs are always swearing in game?

why not do what porn sites do and make someone click are you over 18 to enter?

i mean sure people under 18 will obviously just click yes whenever they see one of those but at least then youre not likely to get shit for anything on the forums.

oh come on porn is censored? literally everyone who has ever used the internet has seen porn of some kind, even if by mistake. The second you sign into your home internet you sign an invisible contract saying I. agree to see several penises even if i do not want to see said penises.

well, to be completely honest, DBs forum censor isnt that bad. its better than a lot of them.

ill use black desert onlines as an example, F-ck, s-ht, c-nt, bastar-, b-tch, and anything involving as- is censored (mount names apparently dont count because i named my donkey as-hat), but the N word, fag, spic, and other racial/homophobic slurs arent blocked out.

when you look at it like that, even if censoring is annoying or odd considering the game, at least they didnt half ass the system.

Not rated could be one reason, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s just in line with what Nexon does with all games. No exceptions.

It’s fine anyway, you shouldn’t cuss to begin with. Life is too beautiful to swear.
Only exception being the Vassili shitstorm that’s currently going on, but I kindly take that to voice comms so they may have ‘misheard’ me.

The option to opt out of the filter would be nice.

the forum allows a huge amount of profanity, from F bombs to every scatological reference, yet I got an infraction for saying bullshit to really obvious bullshit from an Admin

Because the record lines for each merc are to fill you in on what type of person they are and what their vocabulary is like, which shows a bit of their personality.

On the other hand you’re expected to show some respect to other forum posters so more often then not if you’re going to use them it’s suspected that you’re going to be rude to someone else, if not it’s a bit funny wondering what that [REDACTED] did when they [REDACTED] that [REDACTED] with a [REDACTED]. Like those books you fill in yourself.
