I just wanted to create a thread about this, since I personally think it’s quite funny. Recently I have seen a lot of Phantoms fail miserably and blame it ALL on the nerfs (We all know that Phantom was ‘Play2win’ before the patches) whilst they clearly don’t play him in the ‘proper’ way he is supposed to be played. Clearly, he is supposed to be an assassin picking off loners (lonewolfs/snipers) and isn’t made to be some sort of Conan the Barbarian taking out whole groups with minimum effort.
A lot of people fail to understand this and just plainly run towards someone/groups whilst they have clear vision of you…

…and wonder why they get picked off so easily.
They also think their katana is the most sacred thing on the planet and refuse to switch ranged weaponry even if the ranged weaponry gives them a bigger situational advantage compared to the katana. I have seen a lot of Phantoms trying to backstab someone, only to get busted by the targetted person/team. When this happens, they often run away with their katana drawn and get killed. If these people were smart, they would have drawn their primary weapon if their initial target is a distance away, aimed whilst being cloaked and opened fire when they have properly targetted them and then cloak to retreat. This alone could help them a lot with avoiding unnecessary deaths.
To sum up the generic Phantom players :
- Always let their cloak run completely out (and have to wait a very long time before being able to cloak).
- Sword is sacred to them, they seldom switch to ranged weaponry.
- Approaches targets frequently from the front.
- Runs across large open area
- Clear movement patterns.
- Think they are a one man army.
