Fire Supports:
Stoker is very good all around. his guns have a nice punch, his ability works indoors and is very effective at blocking pathways and easy panic kills, and the ammo station is just an xp dispenser used right and can be improvised as cover.
Arty is great on EV maps, his weapons emphasize precision, as does his ability. it locks in almost immediately and an down if not gib any merc hit by it, so its great to just wipe a group trying to push/repair the EV, though he’s good on other maps with access to the sky as long as you need to kill people.
Kira is also good against enemy players. she has lower health than the other fire supports, but has a nice speed boost along with it, which is really fun if you decide to run kiratana. the pet lazor is nice to talk walks with and watch enemies try to squeeze themselves as deep into a corner as possible as you push it into them. doesnt have a great dps against the EV, takes a while for it to damage it. Oh, her weapons emphasize precision as well. Dreiss is love, baby!
Medics:
Phoenix is a great battle medic, the SMGs he can have can hold their own against rifles if you know how, and his self-rez is really useful to catch enemies off guard and cheeky rez your entire team behind them or something. the heal pulse takes some time getting used to, but once you do, its better than pretty much every heal option in the heat of combat.
Sawbones’ heals are canceled if the player takes damage, but other than that it heals very quickly, capable of healing rhino from near-death to full health in about 3 or 4 seconds, which is a little faster than the healing station at least. it also doesnt not have a deploy time.
Sparks’ heals are far from the best, and for the most part they are meant for herself more than anyone else, but the REVIVR gun makes up for it pretty good, doubling as a sniper and a long-range rezzer. you need a good aiming hand to use her good, else dont bother, youre just pissing people off when you constantly miss your REVIVR shots.
Recons:
Aimee is useful to make enemies more susceptible to damage using the SNITCH, and her lineup of rifles is pretty good, but she has 90 health. a shotgun blast at close range and a sniper shot can instantly take her out of the action, so you’ll need to employ hit-and-run tactics over camp-and-wait, as opposed to vassie.
Vassili has more health than Aimee, so he can turn and run if hit by most things. He has a bad reputation of usually turning out to be a terrible player, but if you can snipe good, then you’re okay. usually, though, you can quell your teammates’ hatred by throwing the snowballs as much as possible and picking up a ton of enemy players.
Redeye… i havent played redeye at all yet, but just try not to help the enemy team more than your own with the smoke and you’re good to go, probably.
Phantom is an Assault, no matter what anyone else says, but ill put him in recons anyway. He is the only recon without a scanning ability or a sniper rifle, so it automatically means he is not a recon, but you can scout out enemies and manually tell your team, i guess. for some reason, the EMP field is considered a recon ability and a dead giveaway if you’re trying to be stealthy, and even without there’s that whine that doesnt hide anything. the katana’s okay on him.
Assaults:
Fraggar is great at killing enemies. Pineapple juggler has been essentially removed, so it matters even less if you cook your nades or not, but its better to do so if just for the shia surprise. His MG is meh, you have to know how to use it, which i dont. the M4 and BR are pretty good alternatives otherwise.
Thunder is awesome, dont let anyone tell you different. i kinda liked his EMP ability with the conc, but if he has to go without, then its okay i guess. the LMG on him is great, especially with drilled on, and its just generally fun to throw concs at people and watch them walk into walls.
Rhino is great at defending points, assuming you have a health station or two. with the right about of support, you can wreck all the sh*ts on the enemy team, but slow movement means a prime target for snipers. try to use him in close quaters where the enemy has minimal time to react to your fat arse being there.
Nader has a greande spam ability. i should just stop there, but okay. she is great at going into heavily defended enemy camps and destroying it with grenades and the martyrdom ability, and her SMG selection packs a punch all round.
Engineers:
Hate aiming and shooting yourself? well, worry not, friend, for the engineers have abilities that almost entirely remove the need for you to do so! in the case of Bushwhacker, his turret is- well, you already know, but just in case, it auto-targets enemies and auto-shoots with with an auto-gun. the damage on it is honestly meh, could be better, but you can use it as a secondary target when you are engaged in a gunfight as well as improvised cover and nonexistant teammate without a keyboard.
Proxy is cancer. you can be cancer, too, for just 30k creds! the cheapast engineer merc and my personal recommended first merc purchase, proxy is great at close-range combat, and at mid range, she can do pizza deliveries, though i personally recommend you use the mines to defend the objective over convenient grenades.
Fletcher is a god, you have to sacrifice 13 virgins to him before he will lend you his power of god mode. his guns are pretty good, i especially liked the ahnuld, they most focus on mid-range, which is about the distance you can throw your stickies. those spicy meatballs can kill any merc no problem, assuming you stick at least 2 onto them without dying first, so try to flank as much as possible.
Turtle isnt out yet.
