Who is Truly the Bad Guy here?

(BaNeJuDgEmEnT) #1

On the Ark who do you truly think is bad for the ARK : Security or the Resistance?

(FireWorks) #2

Both idiots and actually truly bad for not being able to live with eachother and spending massive ressources on war instead of prosperity.

Will humanity ever learn?

EDIT: ah you even added a vote and a proper answer for me

I think Chen is too personal sometimes for his goal if you listen his voice record about his little brother. He judged Mokoena and Founders based on his biased thougts and negative view.

I can’t really judge the guest. As far as I know they’re selfish and don’t know their place but it doesnt mean they’re evil but they’re just ignorant, ignorants don’t know what they’re doing. Even though some of them have a really hard life, I think it’s depends on person too. According to Barbara’s, There’s some of guests that earn their place in tower by work hard and true to themself… maybe it’s like real world, some people on street just whinning how poor they’re but they never work hard enough to earn good life for themself.

Barbara(One of the founders) don’t want to tell Chen the truth about outside world because they afraid that Chen might spread the words and guests will freak out. I don’t know about the other founders but probably they’re not as good as Barbara.

this is all i can come up now, correct me if im wrong would be kind.

Even when humanity is at the end, it still fights tooth and nail over a tiny bit of Arkora bobbing about in the ocean.

(Bork9128) #6

when i finally got around to listening to all of the audio logs my first thought was this is why people cant get along

chen refuses to tell the founds the arkoral stain is dying for fear that he will be blamed even though telling them might get them to contact the outside for help

the founders refuse to tell chen that the outside is a barbaric place for fear that it will cause panic even though it might get him to stop the resistance

even so the founders where kind enough to take in survivors even though they knew the ark couldn’t support them the guest should be happy they weren’t turned away to die at sea

Ouch, you took the bait for one of the biggest lies in of our time and you even wrote the contradiction in the sentence before.

Ever heard of structural unemployment?
There are not enough resources, here jobs in the founders tower (or industry, or …) and only a few chosen ones can earn their place there. Even if every single person is working their soul out day and night, there is no chance that they all will get a job. Only say 10 chosen percent can make it, all the other 90% that worked the same hard time wont manage it. And your conclusion is they are lazy crybabies?

The social reality has some more inhibitations, like you need money to get an actual job. Thats why micro credit projects work that well in developing countries. Thats why states with a proper wellfare system have such a low unemployment rate and almost none people living on the streets. And thats the reason why the USA fail so hard with people living on the street that will never ever have another chance in their system :frowning:

Sorry I dont want to take it too far into politics and keep it simple. I also dont want to write romans here…

It’s ok, I like what you wrote

I judge that point of view from what I’ve experienced… from where I came from there’s actually people who only whinning and actual people who really work hard to get their place, I mean they aren’t get to be a millionaire or something fancy but they can afford to live.

From where I came from we have a group of people in the high position and also one particular person, god-like(that’s what the media told us as our kids has been brainwashed). they never actually help us, maybe they was but not anymore… and people get used to got help and never really do anything by themself… begging for help, waiting for salvation. we don’t even have those welfare here…

I’m a middle class btw, my only struggle is blending into the society or get out of here(if I have a chance).

I don’t really want to mention where I came from even it’s on the internet but I don’t want to risk my life and my family’s life on this topic…

I hope i can explain more, from where I came from it almost sound like The Ark especially the Resistance, but the resistance in BRINK has more reason than what had happend here :frowning:

(FireWorks) #9

Glad you and your family made it out of there

(CENB71) #10

Nah, Only me for now, It’s not a bad place to live. I do really love my country and wanted to go back sometime if I have a chance. But sometimes only people just made it harder to live.

Like The Ark, From where I came from people from outside hates people in Capital city, they thought we were rich and spoiled and they hated us just because we work our way out to live here(my family is not originated from capital city), just like the rest of any other people who lives here also. I was born in capital city and never hate people from outside since we’re in the same nation… even some of them or many of them turn out to be criminal and they blame everything except themself. And tho some people who lives here hates people from outside… im kind of understand them.

(Hdserialkiller) #11

The founders need to grow scrotums and bring in the resistance as soldiers to investigate the nearest island. More man power is better than getting owned like its d day. It at least gives them something to strive for. It can’t be that much worse off the ark. I know they say it’s dangerous but it’s dangerous to the people that are living a decent life, not the ones struggling to survive.

(Stormchild) #12

The wrongs and rights are always balanced. Manicheism is an invention of man. But then again, even “good” and “bad” is an invention of man, based on simple survival paradigm but then spinned out of proportion using religions, politics, and other not much natural anymore reasons.

From what I understand, the rebels want to leave the Ark because they are having a hard time there. The Security is only paid muscle heads to keep order and protect their master’s turf.

Like Hdserialkiller said, they could very well unite to mount an expedition on land and even though the founders want to stay on their ark, why not have a proper link with mainland through a rebel-based colony.

Could be a pitch for an add-on or Brink2, too…

(Spendlove) #13

Didnt an expeditionary force find land and was tortured to death? They had to move the Ark to protect it from invasion. But do not have the resources to move it again, hence stopping Chen from leaving.

Then you have the splinter group going extreme against Chens wishes, threatening to nuke the Ark for everyone.

At no point do you see the Security going too far - but I get a vague hazy feeling that Container City that invading the guests own homes to get a vaccine, which Security think is a viral bomb - might well count.

Opening Cut scene captain Makowani disobeys a direct order to use deadly force? But I am finding it really hard to determine who is truly wrong / right. For example for the 1st level in the campaign, the resistance are protecting an agent “supposedly” and ark security is rescuing a hostage?

(iezza) #15

I belive security were corect if their explanation of the outside world is correct. thar.

(ikiryou) #16

!!!SPOILER INBOUND…or not if you don’t care about the story

During the Resistance biolab mission, I remember hearing Chen say that Nachayev managed to contact the outside world, which is why they’re trying to capture the Arkoral from the biolab to trade with the outsiders. Nachayev’s obviously not dead, so Security’s got some 'splaining to do! (I’m sure there’s some misspelling up there^)

(nephandys) #17

I’ll try to keep this as spoiler free as possible, but the Resistance is consciously aware that the Ark is sinking and not able to be fixed and is keeping it a secret (at least Chen is). They’re also in the process of dismantling key parts of the Ark in order to build weapons, bullets, etc. It seems like the Resistance has destroyed just as much on the Ark as they have built.

Security on the other hand has gotten excessive with force and wants to share about the outside mission with the Resistance, but has yet to do so.

It’s pretty hard for me to side with the Resistance at this point.

(coolstory) #18

Both Mokoena and Chen are bad they both come into this world by saying I’m a bad guy and I oppress that’s all I do.

(RabidAnubis) #19

I think both sides are at fault, but more the resistance. The resistance has good goals, but founder’s tower is going WAY too far. they should have targeted the security, not the civilians.

(Nosferatu) #20

They’re both wrong: Option C

The real issue here is disinformation, they both are withholding information. Massively ‘Dumbing Down’ (*) the population is the biggest issue of our society and the criticism the writer is trying to convey.

I’m sorry, I couldn’t find the correct word here. I’m not English and I probably fell prey to this practice. LOL If someone knows which word I mean I’ll edit my post.
