Dude damage double buff mossington is EASY to kill with. I use it as a primary on one of my loadouts.
I keep going back and forth to the mossington, but i can never really kill anyone. Then again im new ot brink.
For me, my tactic (if i want to be effective) is to get closer. Love the covers, they can scream “coward” anyway they want, but I don’t see a gun that requires to load every shot would win against a full-auto in the open. In covers, pop out of cover-shoot-get back, I’ve learned to be quick on that.
Also, I can’t fight mano-o-mano with the mossington, so I don’t. I find it fun trying to find an on-the-fly effective flanking/ambush points. And as for getting them from behind, I always try NOT to aim at the enemy if I’m not firing, I always assume everyone has “the spider-sense”.
This.
I said it in another thread but if you need to fire a second shot with the Mossington then you’re already dead. As such, make sure that first shot is a good solid hit at close range. I.e. Use baiting and lure tactics to get people to come at you.

Nexo
I ran into somebody who was quite good with it last night, don’t remember the gamertag.
From watching a lot of people play with it, I think what’s obvious to some people isn’t obvious to most… that your reload tactics are essential to using the Mossington effectively. It has the most complex reload mechanic of any gun in the game, and I’m always baffled to see people let it get completely empty for a forced reload every time.
And yes, always look for an Engineer damage buff.
I have occasionally used it, but I’m having some trouble with it: when I see an enemy while wielding it, I have a few choices. Even if the enemy is at short (3-6 meters) range, it occasionally takes 3-4 shots to bring him down. This is too slow in most of the fights I have gotten to, so I could switch to my alternate weapon instead. If I switch weapons, the enemy will have already started shooting at me and I will most likely lose the fight. From my experience I agree with Nexolate: if the enemy doesn’t die with a single shot, you’re already dead, since the rate of fire is so slow. Also, you need to be at two-meter range or closer to use the damage effectively. Preferably, only slightly out of melee range. So far, I have only been able to use this weapon effectively against people who only use melee. Hjammerdeim, however, is a different story altogether.
Lately, lots of times I am running in to a shotgun. The key for me, is to back off a bit, and make them waste shots. I have used the mossington after the patch with my heavy soldier, and it was pretty effective. I’d advise using it on a CQ map like defending the gate on Sec Tow.

Hey, any chance someone could look at these threads? Seems to be a common request around here lately. Thanks!

If we bombard the developers with unrelated stuff everytime they post, then they will simply stop posting. I’m sure they’ve seen those topics already. Plus, all three links are about the same issue… and changing team mid-game is important to those of us on PS3 who play organized community matches, so that we can easily balance teams whenever someone drops.
