Hi,

I would really like to learn to make a map for ET, my problem is that i dont know which program to use, i’ve tried GTKRadiant before but thought it was kinda complicated so right now im downloading a program called “WolfET_tool.exe”( http://www.fileplanet.com/files/120000/127411.shtml ) so whats your thoughts on that program, is it good? easy to use?

Same one

No, seriously though, stick at it… it’s not too difficult. I think they’ve tried to make it as straight forward as they can… just play around with it for a bit and ask back here if you get stuck with something… (after you’ve searched for it of course!)
You have to be willing to put time into learning it though. It won’t just create a full map from pictures you draw

OMFG!

I just spent 35 minutes in a que waiting to download the file at FileFront… :banghead:

Edit: Yeah, i think i’ll try one more time with GTKRad…something tells me i will spend alot of time in this forum after its installed…

One of the hurdles is getting used to looking at the 2d views, where most of the work takes place. When working on your first map, which should be a box, it will be hard to tell what direction you’re looking at it from in 2d. I would suggest making it a hollow rectangle rather than a square. Another difficulty is getting a sense of scale in your head. Keep in mind the spawn entities (info_player_start etc…), are roughly the size of a player.

Is there a difference between wolf_tool.exe (which includes Radiant 1.3.8 ) and a download of GtkRadiantSetup-1.4.0-Q3RTCWET.exe from qeradiant.com (apart from the version)?

nope

wolf_tool.exe is just for ET made by SD
