Which program(s) do I need to make a map for ET?

After having looked for an answer for quite some time now, I’ve decided that just straight out asking for one on this forum might be faster.
All of your mapping bibles and advice is very nice, but I have no idea how to apply it, since I don’t know which program to use.

Basically, I’m interested in constructing level geometry and entities, setting up a map. I’m not interested in making textures, sounds and such - I hope that I can get all of this from various source sites.

I realize that this may not be the smartest first post to make, but I hope you’ll bear with me.

you can get sounds/models/textures from various sources but they are no substituation to ones made specificaly for your map

although dude i though at first i give you the benefit of the doubt that if you dont know what GTKradient is called then there would be no reason to look for it so its understandable not to knbow what tool

after about 30 seconds in google and the first page that came up had a link to the same website and even a title of “getting to know your editor”

Yeah, maybe I should have looked in google instead of here at the forum where such knowledge is common and therefore not spoken about. : )

oh, and you need a text editor (woo! notepad)

for scripts

For terrains you can use Easygen or Fate (plz use the forum search).

A good start are the sticky threads here in the forums.

I’ve already downloaded Fate, looks good.
I’m familiar with notepad : )
Now to do some tutorials, already found some of those.

Thanks guys!
