Where's The Brink Hype Machine?
Hahah thats brilliant! I joined a L4D 2 boycott group but have at least left it now I own the game

I have to say though that I am really loving iwnet, being a non-competitive casual gamer I find it better than having to scroll through a server list. I understand some of the hate towards IW but consoles do make up the majority of sales so…
I’m with you on that one. IWNET just makes it easier for me.

I have MW2 on both platforms (PC & Xbox 360). I guess i’m one of those lazy people who can’t be bothered to find a game. I click one button and I join a game! YAY!

I spend most of my time on the Xbox rather than PC so who am I to speak on behalf of the PC community? I personally prefer the new thing abut I accept that many don’t.

I think there’s something really wrong with this statement, but that’s just me.

The advantage of the server browser is that after awhile people tend to stick to a few favorite servers, and it’s a very good thing to meet people you’ve played with before instead of playing with random idiots every time, especially in a game that requires a bit of coordination.
That doesn’t mean that both systems can’t live together. This has nothing to do with p2p vs dedicated servers. If you want to see a p2p system that actually works, check out blizzard’s battle.net, it’s so well made people confuse it with a dedicated server service when it’s actually p2p and it works beautifully without people having to open ports.

Well said DoubleDigit. That is one of the think I hate about playing on console. Everyday you play with random players. Most of the time, I have to mute them because they speak share rubbish.

Ok, I have switched sides. I bought Team Fortress 2 about 2 days ago on steam and I have already found some good servers which I play on most. Yep, I do agree with you guys now.

I wish there was a way which you could press one button to load you into a good game without having to scroll through server lists. Team Fortress has sort of done this with the map list thing but it needs a console style ‘choose game mode’ and fires you straight into a game.

One thing which really pisses me off is having to download files for every server. It takes so long! All they are are stupid sound files which go like ‘monster kill!’ and things, it’s a complete waste of time!

Just have a look in the menus.

I don’t think most of the people loathing CoD:MW2 do it because of matchmaking but rather because of the lack of dedicated servers, which is not a matter of “exclusive or”. Let’s not forget the lack of lean, mod tools and something as basic as a console. I wonder whether hardware makers sponsored Activision to remove the console so every player with a decent but generic PC gets a shitty experience out of the game.

I think a button to quickly join the first available favorite server would not be hard to implement.
Yea, I hate the same thing about valve games, you can’t just join a cs source server anymore without having to download stupid stuff. Grrrrr.

Has any publisher ever given discounts to customers that already own the game they are trying to buy, but on another platform?
Or even easier, if you buy them at the same time

e.g.
Buy PC game full price, get 360 version 25% off

(DoubleDigit) #70

I think it’s only possible the other way around, buy console version, get the pc version cheaper. Microsoft and Sony are already loosing tons on money on consoles.
