Where would you place your mouse sensitivity level?

Like I said, my mouse pad is 11x17 which is pretty damn big. Any larger and I’d have to but my mouse and keyboard on different surfaces, or stretch my arms too far apart to let me effectively use the keyboard. I’m already playing with my arms resting naturally about 22 inches apart.

It’s mostly feel as Wats said, though I’d hardly consider using a full 11x17 mousepad to be high sensitivity in any capacity.

And no, I’ve never played CPMA but anything Quake related tends to be gameplay I don’t really like. Not because it’s difficult, but because I don’t like meta that requires unintended actions (like “wave dashing” in SSBM). I’m pretty Quake has that thing where you have to utilize the exploit of rolling your mouse in some way that causes your speed to increase? Yeah, I don’t like that kinda stuff.
Strafe jumping is an intended mechanic. It started off originally as a bug, much like Street Fighter 2 combos, but due to it being fun it was kept in and has been in and intended since Q2 and was ported back to Q1 in Quakeworld. In Q3 it’s always been intended and in Qlive they made an option for people to turn on to make it much easier. And the CPM mod simply expands on those same movement mechanics and is more similar to Quakeworld.

There is a lot more to the story than that but that is the short and quick version. So I guess you can now play Quake 3. But you can’t play any fighting games

Yeah, disliking a mechanic based off intention instead of how it actually plays is a bit weird imo. If it plays well, I don’t really care about whether or not it was intended and vice versa. Certain mechanics in melee, like shield dropping, might not play well because their execution is really finicky, whereas other unintended mechanics, like jump cancelling to up smash out of a sprint, are both very easy/consistent to perform and also add to the game’s depth.

The only bad thing I can think of that’s true for most unintended mechanics is they’re usually not intuitive, so it’s unlikely you’ll figure them out without a tutorial or something.

Btw this video gives a really fast overview of the movement in Reflex/CPMA in case you wanted to see how it works.
Automatically cancels it out for me. If it starts of originally as a bug, and it’s a core mechanic you literally cannot compete without utilizing, I won’t like it. I’m not saying the game is bad because of it, I just don’t play games that use bugs as core game mechanics. Personal preference, I prefer the game be played as intended, not as changed to fit the bug-finding community’s love :P
This is off-topic though, so:

tl;dr
“Since everyone likes and uses this bug, we’re going to hard-code it in.”

Nah

“We made a new game mechanic, try it out!”

Yah

Taking what was said out of context while providing some awful sketchy logic as to why you don’t play a game, which is used as relevant context in regards to mouse movement in this thread, is just odd.

The point is that TF2 scouts are pretty easy to keep up with at my mouse speed. A speed you were questioning and claiming that myself and others would have issue with. I am offering a counter-claim that shows you are incorrect in your assumption.

So yes, on-topic, you’re fine if you use low sensitivity in TF2, Quake (any version) or any game in general as long as you’re willing to move your arm a bit more.

Yes but the conversation was degrading into “I don’t like game mechanics because…” which is off-topic.

I simply don’t have the desk space for a larger mouse pad than 11x17 and I like using my keyboard and mouse on the same surface.

If it works then it works! I certainly couldn’t move my arm fast enough to wheel multiple 180s/360s back to back fast enough over a 24x36 area. And you’re playing against a good scout, you’re doing 180s and 360s since they aren’t getting much further than a few inches away from your character. But if you can do it then great B)

5000 dpi

1.6cm

Ingame sensitivity on 10, and mouse DPI on 500 (shift) / 1000 / 1500. Playing Dirty Bomb on 1000 most of time, shifting to 500 when I snipe or need better long range tracking.

Those settings work best for me, I guess, since the general accuracy increased from 28% to 35% in a matter of weeks.

Now, where is my ruler…
