Who currently owns the ETQW IP, out of interest…?
Where is the announcement?
Interesting! So I guess the unannounced game will be another brand new IP as it’s published by WarChest (or is that only if it’s a free game… perhaps it will be!)
This^ Wanted to ask the same question. Hope they’ll announce something anytime soon, so I can look forward to something. Also hope it’s MP focused since I have allready too much unplayed SP games on my shelve. The Brink campaign and all the challenges were just right for a MP game. My only problem back then, when they released Brink, was that the PR was absolutely misleading of what Brink would be. Other than that, the campaign was just right to learn the basics of the game and to get into the whole Brink world.
One screenshot/piece of concept art, a general outline of the game and of course the name, would allready be enough for a starter
I mean come on, to me it was totally obvious that the next game would be a totally new IP.
I am just curious what type of game it will be. If not these suspiciously FPS obj-based questionaries that Badman posted lately, I would bet they are gonna do something totally different like RPG or somethin’. But no…
Perhaps it is gonna be a similar gameplay game with Brink’s barbie character customization (drastically nerfed) and weapon customization, but on another engine and with Brink’s fails corrected (such as UI, better maps, class recognition, SDK) and lots of ETQW features implemented (deployables, vehicles, demo features, spec mode, customizable HUD). Unfortunately I am afraid that this game will also have permanent unlocks.
In my opinion BRINK has the best UI I have ever seen in games, it’s simple, yet awesome!
Well, it is still a way more inferior to ETQWs UI, but what I meant was mostly the stuff like combined syringe and F-button, grenades and SMART issues.
How honored am I that my remark generates the attention of a Splash Damage overlord. I am grateful.
Just want to let you know that like Frost, I still play your game every chance I get. While I might cuss at being continually knocked off my feet by guerilla grenadiers and having virtually no option to mitigate what I’d consider a crutch for lesser players who stoop so low because they cannot bear the might of a superior man, I take great delight in having firm control over the Matrix to be able to stop the vast majority of spraying interlopers with well-placed shots from my semi automatic, and often while their grenades are in mid-flight.
Rhetorically speaking, I’d love it if you could avert your gaze, flip a switch and render me immune to grenade and molotov knockdowns when I have my shield equipped on my Rokstedi.
Cheers,
Redtail One
I expect the “we can’t wait to tell you” announcement in the earliest next year around the first 3 months.
It just can’t be beyond the 31.12.12, cause that would be outright unreasonable, not to say insane; since we are all getting crazy here due to the lack of information. My guess would be some kind of “christmas gift” thingy, though I deeply, deeply hope, that it will be on a much earlier date.
Well it can, remember how many times Brink was delayed?
Also the plans are changed I guess? Because Rahdo said they had big plans for the Brink franchise he even mentioned there are already plans for Brink 2,3 etc. Now they switched to another engine and no Bethesda.
It makes no sense to announce something when there’s nothing to show unless you are satified with a teaser like the one from Brink:
It also makes no sense to announce an announcement when you’re not sure there will be one, so I suspect we’ll def have one by the end of the year… maybe Dec 31st after all

Well I think 1 1/2 years after Brink’s initial release they’d definitely have something substantial to show us. Hard to imagine that the devs went to work for 18 months just to push around ideas and concepts and to grief about Brink.
At the very latest, around the time when the “Agents of Change” DLC was released, they had to hardcore brainstorm in order to get a new publisher or to convince Bethesda to stay for another round (wich in hindsight obviously wasn’t the case). Look what a 6-9 man team was able to achieve with “HAWKEN” within 9 months. You would think a allready professional dev-team like SD, with more than three times the size would definitely be capable to have something solid in their hands after 18(14; after the AOC DLC) months. And I’m quite certain, they have.
But then again, I guess they are very cautious this time, concerning the PR of their new game(maybe even a new IP), since hyping up a game from very early on in the development usual doesn’t do it any good; except if you’re trying to raise funds(Kickstarter etc.) or to find out if there is even an audience for a certain kind of game. But since they are most certainly developing another fps-game(wich imho. will allways have an audience) and are allready “polling around” in the forums, I think they pretty much know what most of us people would like to see in their next game.
So from a reasonable standpoint it would be the best to announce something 4-6 months before it’s actual release(yeah I know, I did say quite the opposite in my post above, but that was more the fan in me
). 2-3 years of announcing can be very annoying and exhausting for the audience and they(the developers) would also give other studios too soon, too much information about their new product and in this regard an advantage over themselfs, wich isn’t exactly a good thing I guess.
That were some of the points, why they wouldn’t or shouldn’t come up to soon with information about their new title, but then again, I’m so curious, I just want a tiny bit of information, like the genre and subgenre, maybe one or two concept drawings and the engine they are going to use. Stuff like that, nothing major.
PS: Lol, just watched this good ol’ piece of nostalgia here and noticed, that no one in the final cutscene has a mag in his weapon
*lol at night scene
*armadillo with lights!
*have no idea what that map is
*why is a fieldops pressing buttons (commander role?)
*ridiculous amount of effects that never made the cut
*fieldops is carrying a weird version of the scoped assault
haha that vids awesome
How people expected W:ET2 from that announcement trailer still puzzles me to this day.
I remember seeing that trailer back then, in complete ****ing awe of the graphics.
Didnt care about the vehicles!
a rumor says: SD work on Blizzard’s next-gen MMO [i.e. Titan]
