Which text do you want to change?
In the middle “You killed …”?
Or the text in the upper left corner?
For the text in the upper left corner there’s a tool in one of the sticky threads (on top of the forum).
For the text in the middle:
You have to change a texture.

Did you just use a pk3 that included a fonts directory? It may have only replaced the “Arial Black” font and not he “Courier” one.
I was just reading the header of quake3’s code/renderer/tr_font.c and it looks like it’s possible to create new fonts from any TrueType font. Has anyone tried this out? Looks like it may require a specially compiled quake3 binary to get it to generate the font files though.
