When will the new mercs out ?

My assumption here is that having all the mercs in the game at once was making it difficult for Splash Damage to figure out the balance between mercs. The mercs they’ve left in the game are very similar to the classes in ET, which is a great baseline IMO:

  • Fragger = Soldier
  • Arty/Skyhammer = Lieutenant
  • Sawbones/Aura = Medic
  • Proxy = Engineer
  • Vasili = Covert Ops

From here as they release mercs one by one, balance issues will be pretty glaring. For example, if they release Nader and suddenly every other merc starts doing poorly, they can clearly see that Nader is OP. Or alternatively, if for example Aura’s healing station is looking OP, but it’s brought down much easier with Nader, then they can see that probably isn’t a balance issue.

Although I really miss Stoker/Phoenix, I’m glad SD is taking the time to get things right.

If they have a way of collecting data from servers they can still see which mercs are doing better than others based on kill to death, win percentage and xp earned.
I think it would be easier to release them in packs at this point for the sake of the community getting a better idea of how the meta is suppose to play out.

so i need a 1000 euros computer just for the proken pach? nice i will buy a new computer every time when dews in some game by mistake brokes the pach… -_-

my comp is 6 years old running a Q8200, I just don’t have a ton of garbage running in the background and still average better than 70 FPS, so don’t know, starting to look like pebkac

I just wish it’s this… More or less the same situation with quite old processor (core i5 750, almost 6 years old as well). I’m running UT4 alpha at 120 fps with average settings. Sometimes DB runs above 100 fps even in messy situations, sometimes it’s stuck below 50. With no special tasks running behind. Feels very inconsistent.

For frame rate drops (not consistently low frames) I would suggest an additional fan if you are using a laptop. For desktops, an additional fan is still not a bad idea.

I do hope soon isn’t Blizzards soon™… Because then we will see mercs again next year at best.

Not to be a dick but there really is no reason for all mercs to not be available except to make the new people think there’s “new” stuff coming soon.

Plus the game is whack without certain mercs to counter others.

The press build had 12/21 mercs that i know of, if we get 1 merc every 2 weeks its gonna take 7 months, there is no way they can think that is okay.
