When will the beta ends?

(SereneFlight) #21

Please name one single time the developers have ever said that.
I don’t think any dev or publisher is stupid enough to say it out loud but when a game either goes busily nowhere or the game stays in beta/early-access/whatever, it doesn’t take a college diploma smell that something’s not quite right.
I don’t have to say that I hate Person X/ Company X/ Group X/ Whatever X but my actions would speak for themselves.

(SkrubLord) #22

So a quick question: when this game leaves beta, it will be a paid game right, not a F2P? Or will it stay free?

(strawberryJacket) #23

It will stay free.

(terminal) #24

When SD and Nexon think they have baited and milked their players enough.
“Wow Phantom’s pretty strong, I’m gonna buy him!” --> Phantom severely nerfed
“Wow, an obsidian Proxy. Judging from the past obsidians and how they were both shotgun, this new fixed card should be the Hochfir!” --> Card turns out to be RNG and devs lied

The Open Beta game is still in Open Dirty Bomb stage, please be patient, everything is working as intended.

Dirty Beta willl be the release name.

Dorto Betty, because there’ll be bugs in the name, not in the game anymore.

(Diosito) #27

It’s supposed to be a F2P (free to play), but it was supposed to be a PTP (pay to play) at the beginning, until they decided to make it a F2P, so, at the end, who knows.

You do have to cite sources if you’re going to imply that people are only using a beta tag to make sure they don’t have to account for any issues. If you don’t that’s called FUD and it is against the forum rules.

@blueHeart

The only good answer for this question is whenever the developers think that Dirty Bomb is a fully completed game. If you truly love DB, then it being in Beta should mostly be considered a good thing. This means a constant team of developers behind it fixing it, tweaking it, etc. until it becomes what it was supposed to be. Kind of like raising a child. Sure, there will be bugs and problems that arise here and there, but just like you have to correct your child when it messes up before it becomes an adult and starts really breaking people’s hearts.

I’ve also commented on what the current definition of Beta is previously in another post regarding Custom matches.

Quoted here in case you would like to be educated by my past experience. Shudders

Not to be rude dude, but most pc f2ps are in a “beta” format even when they’re released. It’s just a formality of when they feel like saying this is the full game. And then they add DLC, which is why it’s still in a “beta” format. Only f2ps where the only thing added is cosmetics, will you have a Free 2 Play game that is NOT in a beta format.

So really dude, stop complaining. Look at MWO, their game was considered beta until it hit Steam, and they claimed they wanted it to be out of beta and on steam 3 years ago. That’s 5 years dude. FIVE YEARS.
If you want new content, then a game in beta, which means it’s constantly being worked on, is almost like a promise of that.

EDIT: I’m saying this because back in the day, when a game went “Beta” it meant all of the game’s primary content was out, there were a FEW bugs, and basically the “beta” was just a test field of the game before release. Usually it was a single player or multiplayer lite demo. Then when the game was released it would have EVERYTHING. That is why the term beta these days isn’t the same as it used to be. There’s constant add-ons, unlocks, bug fixes, patches, etc.
Just a reminder, the above is quoted towards someone else, the Edit, and personal messages were directed to that person. Please don’t take offense to anything this says.

Also, @Amerika is this an unanswerable question? So the post should be closed?

game was always to be free to play, even before alpha

(Xenithos) #31

I don’t have it any more… but when the game was a concept that was being sent out in emails called extraction, I thought I remembered it being a purchase thing tbh. However, it’s possible this was for the founders packs for the alpha…

@Amerika

I wont start to think of what these big letters stand for because no matter how rainbowlike my mind is, that F always ends up being followed by an U, and C and a K. As far as the U and the D go…, well… lets skip on that.

So i simply ask, what does FUD stand for?

I could be a smart ass and do the “let me google that for you” link but I shall refrain  It’s also defined in the forum rules which is a sticky up top.

FUD = Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt. Basically, it’s trying to spread either direct lies or misinformation about something (doesn’t really matter what). An example is to imply that people/businesses/other are being unethical without having any kind of proof, sources or anything that most people would need to have to form a solid and logical argument. You know the joke about “Fox News” which boils down to, “I’m not saying the US President is a terrorist BUT I was told there was a chance that he could be one. So let’s talk about that possibility for the next 10 minutes.”

That’s “FUD” in a nutshell. We tend to not do much about it here unless it goes way overboard and/or happens consistently and it’s a group decision with Raz in the loop. Some people are just mad and end up not making a constructive thread or post and that’s fine. Nobody cares or gets in trouble for that other than they get told the thread is being closed. It’s only when this stuff happens over and over again and people are warned multiple times is when it becomes an issue.

Hopefully that explains it well enough for you.

(Dawnlazy) #34

Oh man I was sure FUD was short for this.

I did google it and knew that its prolly in the forum-rules, but well…, (sometimes) im lazy. Why not have a guy explain it to you and as a good side effect it prevents him from stomping some poor newbs ingame. So it’s a win-win situation.

Thanks anyways.

(Xenithos) #36

That’s… um… kinda the same thing. That spreads a LOT of Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt as to many things in our lives.

Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope! Source please? As the Nail said above, it was always intended to be free to play. And an ‘Overwatch’ has not and will not be be pushed (for better or worse.)

(Nail) #38

indeed, that was just for Founders packs, game was Dirty Bomb initially, then Extraction, then back to Dirty Bomb
