When is the "minimal" graphics setting coming?

(onyxMaker) #1

I was getting a good 60 to 80 FPS using my customized config before you guys decided to ban custom configs from the game.

Now on your default “low” settings, with all of the advanced settings disabled, I’m getting an unsteady 40 to 50 FPS on most maps. This makes the game difficult to enjoy, since it’s much harder to shoot reliably at under 60 FPS.

So when are the “minimal” settings that you guys promised coming out? If it’s not for a while, why not just let us use custom configs again?

(Cr4zy) #2

When it is too late.

(Derpfestor) #3

Wait why were custom configs banned anyway?

(tulipRowboat) #4

I need 80~100 fps to be able to aim. 60 FPS is good for MMOS, but not for FPS. Try over clocking. It works for me.

(Mister__Wiggles) #5

60fps is fine for FPS games, input lag is the big no no.

(Gi.Am) #6

They didn’t ban low configs.
You just need one that contains the new clamped minimum settings.

Those configs would be the same as minimal settings. They propably didn’t add those to the settings yet because either the UI guys are busy with more important stuff. Or they haven’t finished their option clamping yet.

Would you (or anyone else) happen to have a link to the new “low as possible” config that works?

They gave an unfair advantage.

Look up Outc1der on twitch and grab the one he has. It is what I use. Constant 60fps+ on an:
AMD FX-8320 @ 4.0 Ghz
GTX 760

Sorry not using configs myself, but I think you might want to check out the gameguide subforum, I think there should be some guides in it.

Care to specify? The only advantage it seems to give is better frames, which everyone should have if possible.

How is it unfair?

(stealthyCaper) #13

Better framerates aren’t the only advantage certain settings would give

For instance, removing or toning down particles would allow you to not have your vision obscured by RedEye’s smoke.

Well isn’t that an SD problem and not the config? Make the smoke mandatory and there will be no problems.

(Supa) #15

Early on (Most notably in the closed beta) there were some configs out there that practically rendered smoke and foliage useless, giving the players that used these configs an advantage by pretty much seeing straight through them. Other than fixing those few options I feel that there really is no reason to completely get rid of all the graphical settings we DID have via the ShooterEngine.ini.

However, I suppose I could be incorrect in my convictions. Personally I would like more insight on the issue considering I barely reach 40-60 fps in comparison to the constant 100+ I had before the patch. I would request anyone that has a different opinion to express it so I better understand the other side.

Really the only thing I am looking forward to is better optimization. If I can run the game on it’s normal config WITHOUT the aid of an FPS config that would be fantastic. Until then, I am going to use whatever I can to give me more FPS. Really hope that they have a strong focus on this. As long as I get a consistent FPS in the final version of the game, I will be happy.

That’s exactly what clamping is: restricting certain config settings to a minimum. So making smoke mandatory IS enforcing a minimum setting for smoke, even though the .ini says it should be lower. This does however impact FPS.
