when i press L game crashes!!!!!?? help please!!!

My wap isnt cooming up on my host game list!!! can someone plz explain why?
I have the .pk3 file in my \etmain directory
inside the pk3:
\maps
\scripts

inside \maps:
mymap.bsp
mymap.script

inside \scripts:
mymap.arena

inside .arena:

now when i press L the game crashes… this didnt happen before it was a .pk3!

change:
tpe “wolfmp wolfsw”
to
type “wolfmp wolfsw”

And another thing, if you have very many pk3’s in your etmain folder, then this will happen.

I think if you want to test your maps properly you need a clean installation of ET for that. Testing it with the installation you play with is no good idea imo. Of course that leads to 3 installations of ET: one for mapping withthe pak0.pk3 extracted, one clean for testing the pk3, and one gaming installation.

  1. Gaming 2.06 ver
  2. Gaiming 1 ver
  3. Testing maps (bsp)
  4. testing maps (Pk3)

not necessary… u test your bsp in the mapping installation (or when testing the pk3 too)

For whom do u host? Just for yourself to simulate a server? Them make the pk3-testing installation a dedicated server and connect to it with your gaming installation. Hosting for other players would work the same way, as long as you only host the newly built pk3 for testing purposes.

The important thing is: when you test a new map, make sure u test it in an installation of ET that is clean… which means it has the game, the patch (maybe etpro) and your pk3… nothing else. Especially no custom stuff.

k but now i got a new prob, wen i host (pk3 now) as soon a i press L (limbo menu) it crashes!!! any1 no y? help plz?

For real dude: u need to read some tutorials about teh basics of maps… cuz u keep asking all the questions that u find answered in basic tutorials AND that you ll find answers about on this forum in various threads.

Just wondering: If you put the pk3 in the ET install you use for playing games,

3:playin game
, and start your map with:
/sv_pure 0
/gametype 2
/devmap mymap

Does it work then or does the map still crash?

i tryed hostin a server non-ded and usin devmap and it still crashed

Woops!..Sorry, my fault… I mistyped, try this one instead:

/sv_pure 0
/g_gametype 2
/devmap mymap

so instead of /gametype 2 you should type /g_gametype 2

make sure you have set your mapcoordsmins and mapcoordsmaxs in the map file before compiling…
once you have done this… open the map in devmap

type this:
/developer 1
/generatetracemap

after this you will be able to access the limbo menu.

just a note… find it hard to believe such a remedial question was dodged by so many veteran mappers… as soon as i read the thread title i knew what the prob was… sheesh
