I expected the helmet type hat and not the traffic cop hat.
I voted “yes” for the pic, that’s what I thought we’d get.

What’s wrong with it? I don’t think it looks silly, I’ll admit though, I was expecting the helmet instead of the cap.
Oh I LIKE the hat they gave us (thanks, SD!), but it’s not what I expected. i was sort of expecting a “what’s all this then?” look.

In all seriousness, I had no idea what the limey was going to look like, but if I recall, that picture you posted was the de-facto style pretty much everyone was ‘expecting’.
actually the term limey refers to british army or sailors. ‘bobby’ is the old school name for police after robert peel (something like that) who setup the police force
limey comes from when we ruled the world and nobody wanted to sell us lemons to fight scurvy for sailors, so we used limes instead, which werent as good.
technically a limey would be an british 1800s sailor or a ww2 soldier.
btw - can someone post a pic for those of us in europe who didnt get the game last night due to ****ing lazy arse americans!

you need to move with the times. modern bobbies are more likely to attack innocent civilians or sell private details to the media
and, dont be black… heaven help you… im sure some of them are still stuck in the racist 70s
the only cops to wear nipple hats are the cops on street patrols - its because they can be much more easily seen in crowded streets, and they keep their sandwiches under their hats
As Smoochy pointed out, it originally did refer to sailors. It was then re-used by Americans as a general term for British people but because it was heard a lot during the second world war, people take it to refer to British soldiers specifically - which isn’t really the case
Here’s the Wiki page, which matches the story as I understand it - it wasn’t that people didn’t want to sell us lemons though
lol. Apparently we were the first to discover that Vitamin C cured and defended against Scurvy - and thus understood why it mainly seemed to affect sailors. Limes were easier to get hold of from the British-ruled Caribbean.
Limey is a term that originally referred to British Sailors, but I believe it’s expanded to encompass all Brits now.
As for the hat, I didn’t really know what it’d look like other than that it’d be styled after British hats. So I’m not really surprised/dissapointed with what we got, it looks fine to me.

Nexo
The helmet is no longer used throughout Britain, but remains in use by English police constables who are on foot patrol (higher ranks wear the cap)… the cap has been commonplace in other parts of Britain for PC’s too.
Since the 1800’s the “Bobby” wore a stiff high collar to prevent him being garroted while on patrol, and the helmet was to protect against being coshed.
Scottish police ditched the high collar and helmet in 1950, but the English have maintained it.
If we ignore “Limey” for a second and note the “European” in the description, the cap is standard in several European police forces… the helmet is unique to English police - Scottish or PSNI use the cap.
With the cop hat, construction hard hat now in game. We need Indian Chief head dress and sailor cap and we can get some good old YMCA lovin’ floating on the seven seas.
