When are the pk3s in a mod directory reloaded? Howto force?

When are the pk3 files in a mod directory reloaded? Is there a way to force them to be from the console? So, for example, if I were to replace mp_bin.pk3 with a newer version, or even add a new_map.pk3, how can these be refreshed without restarting the server? Does it happen on any map_restart? Is it different for map pk3s vs. dll/so pk3s?

The server rescans pk3s on a full map change (e.g. ‘devmap foo’.)

Does it make a difference of the server is in campaign mode? What if a campaign is running and the campaign pk3 file is changed, what happens to the campaign when the next map loads?

Whether it’s in campaign mode or not shouldn’t make a difference… If you’re in a campaign and you change that campaign file, I suspect it’ll re-read the campaign and continue at the same map index you’re on (e.g. if you just finished the fourth map, you’ll load the whatever the fifth is at level load time.)
