When a "Your Turn" notification is tapped: Sent to menu, but no red number shown

When an opponent finishes a turn, I am sent a Game Center notification. If I click on that notification, I am sent to the main Play Games menu. The “Play Online” button is displayed normally, but I would expect it to have a red #1 icon next to it letting me know what’s waiting for me.
