What's up with this game's performance?

I can run Battlefield 4 at 50-60+ FPS in 64-player servers (High settings) and was getting 60+ FPS in the Star Wars Battlefront beta, yet even at the lowest possible settings I’m randomly dropping into the 40s and 50s in this game, which feels even choppier than the frame rate indicates.

My specs:

  • i3-4160
  • 8 GB RAM
  • R9 270X
  • Windows 10 (Windows 8.1 before; no performance difference)

What gives? This game looks average at best and has an extremely tiny player count, so I can’t fathom why on earth it performs so poorly even with everything turned off or to Low. Even PlanetSide 2 seems to run better!

  1. It’s a frigging beta bus and performance isues are a gonna happen let them get the bugs wored out first before trying to optimize it to your personal standards . 2. I get 140+ fps in Fraps and Riva tuner. 3. Who cares its dirty bomb not battle feild 4 If u don’t like it don’t play it.

My specs
4790k
32 gig ram
290x
Win7

My older kids pc
4770k
7870hd
8 gigs ram
Win 8.

My younger kids pc
3770k
8 gb ram
7870hd
Windows 7

And we get great performance on all 3

My laptop gets 30 fps low setting gs before it throttles from heat because it’s an ultra book

Performance is just as important as bugs and balancing.

You have an i7-4790k, 32 gigs of RAM, and a 290X. Of course you’re going to get insane performance on a rig like that.

I noticed the other PCs you listed have expensive i7 CPUs as well. Could my performance woes perhaps be related to Dirty Bomb not “liking” i3s? It just seems strange to me, since I’ve had no problems with any other game (and I play a LOT of games).

I never said anything about not liking the game. This is a performance thread, not a gameplay/impressions thread. And I care, obviously, because the game is running choppy even with everything turned all the way down.

Here’s an example of what I’m talking about:
http://s23.postimg.org/z8qgm16qx/Shooter_Game_Win32_Shipping_2015_10_14_18_43_04_2.png

Less than 40 FPS despite my GPU being at 25% and my CPU being under 70%.

Settings: 1920x1080, everything Low or Off.

Something is seriously wrong here.

Cant say…Got a AMD/AMD and games smooth…it does use more CPU than GPU…
my rig here…

You have an i3…

Don’t expect to much performance in a cpu demanding game.

Wow, your a major Tool!

Who cares if the game is in Beta, its been in development for years. Performance should be the Number One concern! You are marketing a game to the masses not a select few with High performance systems…

Besides, the game actually ran better in Alpha then it does now…

So, Crawl back under your troll rock…

As for the OP-

DB is way more CPU intensive then GPU… What helped me, I un-parked the cores!
Game runs much smoother now…

Why is my frame rate poor even when the CPU isn’t at 100%, though? Isn’t that poor CPU usage on behalf of the game?

CPU is definitely a limiting factor in this game, I have a Radeon 6950 2GB and I had lots of problems with FPS. Your CPU doesn’t have to hit 100% all the time to run into problems, not every game/program can even use 100% CPU.

Anyway, I used to run the game at ~50 FPS average, dropped to below 15 FPS during intense gunfights (unplayable) @ 1080p but I changed my settings until it ran well enough:

Fullscreen - ON, VSync - ON, One Frame Intervals - ON, Dynamic Shadows - OFF helped me more than anything else, my max FPS went to over 100 and during gunfights it never drops below ~40 FPS which is very playable.

Otherwise you’ll have to wait for more optimization updates.
