What's up with these awards?

The ones in my profile. Not that it really matters or anyone pays attention to them, but I’m curious.

Does it show random awards rather than the highest achieved award?

For example, I have:
Eyepocalypse - One of your threads has been read a staggering 2000 times.

but it tends to display:
Worth Looking At - One of your threads has been read 500 times.

It also says I’ve been here for a year and also 3 years when I also have the over 5 year award.

Odd. Wouldn’t it make more sense to show the most recent and highest ranking award?

They are displayed chronologically, i.e. if one were to make an account now and get these ‘normally’, they would automatically show up in the correct order with the ‘highest’ one displayed first. But if you get a bunch at the same time (this can happen when you’ve had your account since before the introduction of the awards), they won’t always show up in the order that they’re supposed to.

What Badman said, yes :).

We could add some kind of sort order to every award, if we really wanted to, though I imagine giving every award its own sort order value could be a bit of a hassle.

Now that would be hard to track for sure.

Unless you start taking post count into account, at which point I’m pretty much lost.

nope, all they need is a counter that starts as soon as you log in, and pauses when you leave the website / close it / log out…
