arty and skyhammer are nearly the exact same thing but skyhammer is just better so what point does arty have for even existing?
What's the point of Arty when there is skyhammer?
Arty has a faster cooldown and can target multiple spots at once if needed. A high damage small target blast(Great for EV killing) and he is highly accurate. I have seen Airstrikes bounce off to the side and miss the target or be overthrown. While Arty’s targeting can be finicky - I have never seen it bounce off 
A good skyhammer can wipe a team or lock down a spot for the duration of the strike.
A good Arty can Deny territory for much longer.
Skyhammer can throw is airstrike about once a minute. In that same time Arty can strike 4-5 times(if he has 2 saved). This means he can continuously deny an area of keep enemy deployables(that are out of cover) down.
sky is used more due to his airstriker marker being able to be used indoors and full auto rifles but in big open maps like chapel arty’s strikes are my goto… i use the driess too i kinda like the semi option since i pretty much tapfire anyway…
my problem with Arty is that the artillery is not as strong as Skyhammers airstrike. I can not disable an AV with my 2 artillery strikes but Skyhammer can. Also that you have to lock on vs. just throwing a thing is again a very good advantage of the Skyhammer!
The reduced cooldown is nice and all but the lock on time is killing me mostly.
@Ardez but now that Kira is available Arty seems even less necessary, sure she has a long cool down but makes it up in damage and mobility/control over her satellite.
Kira does have better mobility than arty, but arty still has the throw able ammo packs that Kira doesn’t get. Basically the same argument of Aura vs Sawbonez really.
Arty is slower with more Hp and throwable packs(Sawbonez is slower with more hp and throwable packs).
Kira is faster with a stationary deployable(Aura is faster with a stationary deployable).
The big different is their other ability is quite different effect wise.
@Ardez I understand the ammo pack and health differences, but what I meant to ask is why would anyone pick Arty over Kira if they want long range, accurate fire support, rather than Skyhammer more inaccurate air strike, it has a faster cool down than the rest and has 2 charges, yes but that’s all he has going for him.
Hitting someone with it even without the terrain constantly choosing to ignore your marker is like finding a needle in a haystack, and a guaranteed kill would be them standing over an airstrike cross-air left after designating it.
The only time it does seem viable is to fire off 3-4 airstrikes at an immobile EV to damage it, which Kira and Skyhammer can do in one, with the only down side being that they need to wait a minute to get their abilities back which is not even entirely true as Skyhammer’s be on could be angled to have the bombs head towards the enemy and Kira’s laser moved.
with Arty’s AoE as small as it is, Kira’s lazor is much, much better at the job; more versatile, better at denying spots, easier to get kills with.
I’d like arty to go little bit more towards W:ET artillery, but we shall see.

he would become a dangerous basterd.
Arty is awesome to disable the EV. He can use it across the whole map if he has line of sight and one strike takes more then 1/3 of it’s health. So you either wait 20 sec to finish it with the third or shoot one mag at it. He can is a pain in the as for vassilis if they’re under open sky.
Kira on the other hand is more useful against people. Her laser takes 3/4 of the EVs life if you hit it with the full length of the laser. So it takes forever and you still have to wait 40s for the next laser.
Both arty and Kira are long range while skyhammer is mid/close.
And Skyhammers Airstrike might look better on the first look but I have to say that it’s nearly impossible to get killed by an airstrike if you keep your eyes open. The flying marker, explosion, red line, jet noise… you have to be blind and deaf to not see that 
And on top of that: If you disable the EV with an airstrike and it gets repaired just seconds later (good Proxy in enemy team) you are useless for 1:30 minutes…
Reasons why someone might choose arty’s artillery over kiras laser (what you prever is better is simply personal preference and situational).
Higher Damage - one Artillery deals the same damage as Kira’s laser (a perfect artillery strike is 50% of EV health).
Bigger AOE - Kiras AOE at any given point is smaller than the Artillery.
Instant - The artillery deals its damage in a very shortime compared to Kiras damage over time.
Shorter Cooldown - you will refresh 2 strikes in roughly the time it takes Kiras laser to recharge.
The Targeting on both are pretty much the same the only thing that makes Kiras better is that you can easily target it somewhere else and then move it in.
If you need a bigger Area (say the terminal wall as an example) instantly cleared and want to do that several times every 10 sec Arty is your man.
Have to take out an EV fast, Arty is your man (if Skyhammer is not avaible). You didn’t land it perfectly (which is common) it will be low enough that Nader / Fragger / Fletcher / MG Nests / normal Gunfire can quickly finish it.
An Aura runs away from a fight to her healingstation give them a farewell gift in the form of an artillery and take both out, dont worry you still got 1 and in 20 sec you are good to go.
All the Arty praise aside Kira is still a strong pick and it comes down mostly to personal preferences (I have both but usually go with Arty. He can face tank a Nader nade, Kira can’t).

Oh really? Okay, could be possible that teammates were damaging the EV during my laser as well.
But my point stays: You have to wait for the next laser to finish the EV
Also, isn’t Arty “direct hit” with its ammo pack reducing the “special” cooldown of the target, while Kira’s station does nothing?
Indeed it does.
After some time as Arty I’ve come to realize how awesome he is when used right and take a lot that I’ve said back, one has to play with a completely different mentality and playstyle all together as him.
