What's the current best Red Eye loadout card?

(Patrol1985) #1

I watched some clan matches and it seems that competitive Red Eye players tend to stick to the PDP-70 rifle. Still, I’d like to read your opinions - what’s the current best Red Eye loadout card?

Depends on your primary weapon preference, however the ones that end in -41 are the best for each weapon since they have the M9 which is crucial for him (the other pistols he gets are poop).

The most fun I’ve had with red eye in pubs is with his quick slash/chopper loadout.

(avidCow) #4

Hard to say really, they’re all gimped in one way or another and nothing really seems to stand out. I do agree with Dawnrazor though.

DRD with the DE .50 is his best one imo.

Is any of his primary weapons dominant over others or contributes the most to the team? What about his exclusive primaries?

All three of his primaries are on the harder side to learn. Dreiss and Grandeur can’t be fired at full speed or you won’t hit anything, so they require practice to learn their fire rate to get accurate. And the pdp sniper requires you to get good at twitching in closer combat than snipers play in most other games so you can play more aggressively.

As for contributions to the team, I would argue that they all contribute well as long as you are proficient with the weapon. (Unlike me when I use the pdp)

Thanks for the reply. As far as clan plays go, recently MisterX used Red Eye coupled with the P52 loadout (PDP + quick slash + drilled + cool) in the “DBN Proving Grounds 1 Stage 1” tournament. None of the P52 loadouts are particularly good, but it’s the only one with “drilled”, which is a very solid augment so I assume that’s the reason he chose it. Being able to reload quickly with a sniper is quite important.

However, even though he managed to deal lots of damage during the match, there was one situation which made me feel that PDP may not have been the best choice after all. Here is the said match ([+] vs. AAO). Go to 40:00 mark.

It’s basically the end of the match and AAO have very little time to deliver the second objective. MisterX was designated to get the the EMP from the EV and was engaged by enemy Kira armed with BR-16. Kira managed to kill MisterX and he couldn’t get the EMP and join his team in what was a REALLY crucial moment  With dreiss he would have had more chances at that short of a range.

Naturally, had he chosen a dreiss loadout, his team might have done poorly from the get go as he really put A LOT of pressure on the enemy team throughout the match with the auto-sniper. Perhaps then, it was a bad decision to send a Red Eye player to get the objective in the first place.

Still, I really felt sad for MisterX and his team at that moment and currently I’m inclined towards the D75 loadout (dreiss + quick draw + drilled + guardian angel). Dreiss may not be as effective at the long range, but it’s the best “all around” rifle that Red Eye has. I used it quite a lot when playing Arty so I know what it’s about more or less. Besides, the augment combination is really good - quick draw and drilled are good combat perks and “guardian angel” may be useful when you’re hidden in smoke and someone wants to get rid of it using an airstrike (as someone else noted elsewhere).

I’ll play around with different weaponry and make a decision.

“Kira armed with BR-16. Kira managed to kill MisterX and he couldn’t get the EMP and join his team in what was a REALLY crucial moment”

Well… yeah. Who would want to be in that situation with RedEye, regardless of your rifle. Vas gets a full auto secondary, and RedEye gets the choice of what is probably the worst secondary or a rapid fire BB gun.

(Patrol1985) #10

I think that’s actually a good example of why Red Eye deserves a better secondary. His smoke grenade isn’t strong enough to warrant a weaker secondary than Vas. What can he do really? Rush in with kukri? :stuck_out_tongue:

(RyePanda) #11

Weapons before augments (for redeye at least) so anything with the M9 is preferred. However, due to the driess’ magazine size and fire rate, the loadout with the caulden and dreiss is pretty good too.

(Rosenkreuz) #12

That’s actually what he SHOULD do, if Kukri didn’t have such a crappy hitbox, if he had a little faster movement speed, and if he was built to be more of a raider than a “designated marksman”. He even looks like a Solid Snake/ Big Boss clone.

(avidCow) #13

What’s the deal with the kukri, SD? It’s rubbish. RedEye needs some work.

(SpectraBlitz) #14

From a personal preference, as someone who always has Redeye in slot 1 of squad since his release, I tend to use 2 cards almost exclusively.
The G75 (Grandeur/Caulden/Kukri) and the G41 (Grandeur/M9/Beckhill)
While the G75 is not exactly the most useful of weapon choices, since the recent tweaks to The SR and kukri, I find it to be absolutely amazing 60% of the time.
The G41 is a card I primarily use for melee damage only, popping a smoke to cover and rushing in with the Beckhill, I almost never use the ranged weapons at all.
