What's the Biggest Problem in Dirty Bomb

(mirthfulBaguette) #1

What is the worst thing that you have found in Dirty Bomb so far, whether its a merc, an op weapon, a nerf or update that was recently released, or maybe the community in a whole.

(titaniumCrouton) #2

People calling everything under the sun overpowered and demanding nerfs.

(litheJacket) #3

optimization problem

(Knives) #4

Not enough cowbell.

(giftedBull) #5

Players retention low , stacked team , cheaters, not enough counter for some mercs , the list can goes on…

they failed brink , this one will bite the dust in 5 months.

I really wish the audio lag would get fixed. When there are too many explosions or guns firing it starts to lag my entire game. What’s up with that?

(Radford_343) #7

I have played exactly 6 matches in competitive mode and in 2 of them there were cheaters. Not saying this is representative of competitive mode in general, but it sure seems to be an issue.

There needs to be a more effective anti-cheat system in place soon. Reporting cheaters should also become much easier in the near future, as it is very cumbersome right now.

This is not exclusive to DB. This happens in every online multiplayer game out there, there is no way this can be a relevant issue.

I believe the top priority right now is to make Votekick work properly, closely followed by making a working Anti-Cheat system.

After that it’s the usual; smashing bugs, balancing and making new content when possible.

The dreaded melee slow turn.

(Vexed) #10

@Radford_343 Good news! I play mostly comp so I have dozens of comp games to use for reference and your experience above is an outlier. I have encountered 3 confirmed cheaters ever, total. The big issues with comp are the poor balancing and the broken lobbies, not the cheaters. Also, better anticheat is confirmed to be in progress, so please be patient.

(Radford_343) #11

Well then its all fine then I guess.

I will be patient, to a certain degree. It needs to get sorted sooner rather than later

Edit: clumsy phrasing.

(triteCherry) #12

Lack of team balance. One side generally destroys the other side, I haven’t been able to play many games where it was an even fight from start to finish. Overall it ruins everyone’s experience.

(Ardez1) #13

Lack of transparency with upcoming features, patches and the general direction of the game.

(carnelianHumdinger) #14

People cheating.
People posting videos of them cheating in pugs and comp on youtube and forums and still getting away with it.

(B_Montiel) #15

Huh, that sounds rather depressing when it comes from a moderator. I know, you and Amerika are just players like us, but they could give you some insider info. That would be beneficial for everyone, because you could “orientate” and temper daily discuss upon small directions of the upcoming updates.

But you’re absolutely true, general direction of the game is still a big mystery. Anti-cheat is a granted problem. If you don’t go on matchmaking, it suddenly disappears. There are deeper problems that, sadly, are not pinpointed by the community right now.

Bug fixing and overall game quality improvements are on hold since a couple of updates. Fletcher’s stickies always disappeared since he went back in the game, and probably in older builds as well. Still not fixed. Kira’s laser is disappearing often. The voting system is dreadful. There’s still no auto-balance on servers. I see at least 3 or 4 slendermen per day. I skip a h3|| lot, these are just some examples.

In further development of the game, my major problem are maps. There are not enough maps available right now. And I don’t play Dirty Bomb for some cs-like game mode. Dome takes them years of work. There’s no future plans of releasing some others after it. In my opinion, mercs are just an easy way to make people stay on the game. Releasing a map every 2 months will greatly increase the life expectancy of this game, while releasing a merc just prolongate the crawl for just a few more weeks. And I’m also mentioning improvements of current maps which are sometimes recalled. From the official voices, that’s work in progress. There’s still some awful OOB glitches we found 2 months ago when fletcher got released with @BOMBA and some of our group.

On top of your quick answer, I’d like to add that they still not seem decided for future and strongly impacting directions. Both SD and Nexon are mute when the community is asking if there will be the possibility to get access to server binaries or even rent one with strong restriction. We don’t get strong answers when we openly ask if there is possibility of netcode improvements through limiting pings. I don’t want to create another debate on those subjects. Official answer is… aether.

We do get access to information ahead of the regular playerbase, under an NDA of course, but we get essentially the same information you have right now, but maybe a week in advance. That’s all.

(Blackheart) #17

Matchmaking, or the lack thereof.

(ebonyMountain) #18

The big question: what isn’t a big problem with DB?

big problems:
performance
bugs
questionable balance decisions (Phantom, aimpunch)
cheat/anticheat

everything else above combine with a working, money draining ingame shop.

I just uninstalled the game, because i am fed up. I could not play a single spawn cycle without a dip into 15fps and soundloops, where the game otherwise runs with 80+fps.

You guys have my email…give me a newsletter, when you are done…in 3-5 years.

Hopefully you have :p. But that’s a small amount of time. I don’t mean a clear planning, but you guys should have a rough perspective of what is really going to happen in a month or two. My biggest fear is that they don’t really know either…
As far as I am concerned, if you look at what the open beta release generated (or the big key floodgate since February / March), it feels like they are overwhelmed with it and some updates are just fire concealment…
