A counterpoint to the all the negativity, lets discuss what we love about the game.
For me it’s teamwork, when people are working together and helping each other out, it’s a thing of beauty.

That going for the objective nets higher points than combat related things (kills, assists, etc) as I have always been far more into completing objectives rather than just kills and no other objective.
fletcher is a spammer.
Devs - “Lets give this merc 3 nades that respawn very fast - what could happen”?
Fletcher -
reason they didnt give every merc a nade? even tho with mines and health stations etc it would be extremely helpful to assist in clearing them was because??? The devs wisely saw it would cause spam.
The thing I love most about Dirty Bomb is amount of adaptivness required during the course of one game. For instance, the way you behave depending on what enemy you have in front of you and what merc you’re playing with. Or the merc you should use, based on your team’s mix and performance. Choices of who to revive first, to push or to retreat. All of the micro strategies that one has to develop on the spot. That is what gets me the most!
So even if sometimes there are OP mercs that get released I don’t mind as it forces you to adapt. This game has a darwinian feel to it and I love it. The fact that experience plays as much and sometimes more that skill is also a pleasure.
Unfortunately this is what makes it the more frustrating when teammates lack knowlege about enemies, tactics and counters, as well as when a team is roughly composed by only one type of mercs. It just makes me want to have one of each on both teams, not mainly because multiple mercs of one type are OP, but because it makes the game duller.
Variety is the best thing this game has to offer, and for all of those who complain of imbalance: experience and skill can gum those differences away, too bad if people to afraid of complexity or “casual” players are going to get driven away by it.
PS: Congrats OP for making us talk about what we love in this game! Devs need to read something positive. @MissMurder show this to the devs please. They need to know that their hard work is not in vain and pleases many of us in many ways!

Obviously memes and dynamic gameplay.
Who doesn’t like them!? Richie Phantom,Party Arty…
… and shouting Arty. More like this:

And ET type of gameplay which is very rare when used in MO games.
Hate me, but I dislike the 2 “favourite things” in DB, the Fletcher and Sparks worshipping. Oh boy, I can’t stand those mercs as enemies or teammates.
I like the gameplay tho.
Well this thread is mostly on track, good work guys I’m proud of you
I like the design of the game, the mercs and the maps.
Dirty London is Best London
I think that it’s unrealistic gameplay (speed of mercs, health) is the best thing of this game, because you must choose wisely if you will attack or not, depanding on your health and merc you are playing… Also weapons are pretty balanced too. Overall, you can enjoy in the game, even if there are few drawbacks…
Same as Jaeger, the whole design of the game: art direction, mercs design, gameplay design, map mobility, team works the game requires, no bullet drop (important point imho!), they all hits a sweet spot.
For me its is unique fast paced and time to kill that make it so fun, I also love multi objective games that actually mean something and people should care about (remember: Don’t be a dick).
I enjoy the fast paced nature of the game, whilst it still being a little spongey. It still feels like I have a chance against a weaker player if I get caught unaware, depending on the class. Feels like a great balance between the original quakeworld, and more recent games where you just die in one shot, and that is right up my alley.
I enjoy the diversity of classes, and some of them are just great fun. A friend of mine has just started playing and its amazing just how different we are in our tastes. I always seem to gravitate to the squishy mercs like proxy, sparks and kira, whilst he loves the slow burn like rhino and fragger.
I like the game modes, capturing an objective feels like a new game almost, the way the map changes around 3 times in the one game is a great feeling. I hope the objectives continue to be the focus of this game, because the maps are great and execution whilst fun I don’t think really fits this style of game.
I like the way skill is rewarded. When I started, this was the first FPS Id played in over 10 years. I was terrible. Now, at level 11, I have improved drastically from when I started playing, even been called a bot a few times by salty players. Funny thing is, I still see people playing proxy AMAZINGLY, and the skill cap is so high. I am nowhere near that level, yet Ive improved so much since I started. That is satisfying.
The teamwork aspect is nice too. Really good players can carry (seen some fraggers do some great things), but in general you need your team to be on the same page or chances of winning are slim.
Finally, I like the little touches. My proxy knifed someone on the ground and her “Shhhhhhhh” when she did it was so satisfying.

Awesome, I main Proxy and have never noticed it, I should try to listen for it.
Ah the pre-game suicide pile ritual! Amusing and rather disturbing.
I’m surprised there is any negativity at all. From day 1 I have absolutely loved everything about this game. There is not 1 thing that bothers me about the game itself. Only thing that does annoy me is players using voice to abuse medics for not reviving them. I actually have to mute each players manually to stop hearing stuff like this because it is rude and annoys me greatly. Splash Damage really nailed this game. I’ve already sent over bucketloads of cash as I am more than happy to support a company and game that I enjoy so much, and these days I’m playing it on a daily basis.
Can’t wait for more mercs, maps and game types, and hopefully we will see some competitive matches (esports).
Them taunts
But really, the jumping and alternate routes. I love how many ways there are to get to the same place and all of the little tricks you can learn. I still learn things regularly that I should have known ages ago. Keeps it interesting.
