badman,
Will the PS3 update allow the game to be installed to HDD? There are pretty glaring graphical issues that occur when the player turns quickly - would be nice to see these resolved. I assume allowing it to read from HDD could help.
I kinda doubt that will be implemented, though it is true that texture popping is a real problem (though not necessarily game breaking, just kind of annoying). I’ve even had times going through the weapons screens to do attachments and the guns don’t have full textures.
Even the cutscenes have popping. I’d suggest to pre-render the cutscenes and just have them play as a video (instead of scripted events and camera angles), but that’s probably not high on the list of priorities.
What I, and I’m sure many others would like to know, is whether or not lobbies will be implemented, though I assume we’ll have to wait for the full patch notes to find out. And hopefully some of the “network optimisations” deal with the frequent players timing-out mid-game that has been happening over the past week or two.
Oh… and while I don’t see it come up much, I think it IS pretty important: hopefully we can get a fix for the game crashing when accessing the XMB while levels are loading. This can be an especially significant problem due to our using the PSN text-chat rooms as impromptu lobbies. Don’t know how many times I’ve hit the PS button to type something into chat, and the second I hit the button, I think “damn it… here’ comes a freeze.”
