What's behind the "Containment Shield" that CDA tries so hard to protect.

the thing is there is a difference between Nuclear Bomb and Dirty Bomb

While nuclear bomb designed for total annihilation of everything in its radius, Dirty Bomb is most of the time designed for maximum panic to the population, this include what you see green-yellow dust particle.

ive read about it that the radiated dust particle can be colored while the area is being quarantined so its easily distinguished from normal dust in the environment.

also, there is an asian guy tried to find out what happen if you exposed to massive irradiated dust/water/air the subject body is decaying inside out and the skin is peeled by itself

probably shouldnt post it but its for science…

Eh, no, you’re wrong in most of all that. A dirty bomb is just a regular bomb with nuclear waste, meant to make it so an area isn’t suitable for habitation when the waste is spread all over with the explosion. It’s a terrorist tactic. There’s no “green-yellow particle” coming from dirty bombs - a large part of the terror it causes is exactly that you can’t see it, so you can’t just avoid this or that area. I’d like some source for the “coloring radioactive dust so it’s easily distinguished,” because I couldn’t find any. Your last point about the Asian guy says nothing to counter any of what I said. Or did he die instantly? And lastly, none of that counters the fact that even if that was some sort of “colored insta-death radiation dust,” of the sorts mankind has never seen, it wouldn’t be neatly restricting itself to a lower level like that nor would it remain ionized for as long as the game story has been going on.

PS: Fallout is basically irradiated dust and ash particles. In which way do you think a dirty bomb spreads the waste, a spurt of glowing goo?

From time to time when i’m playing this game. From one map to another. I have a feel like Jackal is getting more and more closer to destroy the “C-Shield” And uncover whats behind it. And i’m starting to raise more question. Whats behind these wall. What are CDA “really” try to protect/contain behind these walls. even though it’s obvious that they try to protect the outside from radiation n’ stuff. But what are they really trying to protect? Secret military project? Sensitive information documents? Or even something more “Sinister” than we ever
think off?

Yup, Kira’s thighs.

Y’all kids need to take physics and chemistry courses and learn you some radiophysical science

tl;dr everything is radiation and it only matters if it’s ionizing radiation and hell yes it sticks to surfaces and ionizes particles in objects and those that are bad at absorbing it, like clothes and organic matter, are particularly dangerous. Alpha and beta particles are relatively harmless as they have a very short fall off distance (aka don’t touch it or breathe it or get too close) but gamma particles will murder the crap out of you and nothing can stop them.

And you can’t see it lmao

There is a singularity teleporting to Pripyat.

Most of Pripyat is safe with the exception of a few places (Hospital, Jupiter factory…) as it was scrubbed and looted long ago. The hospital still has a lot of clothing and medical bandages from first responders that are highly radioactive, plus radioactive dust all over. Just step carefully and don’t step on anything that makes your meter go nuts.

I’ve been there once, it’s a neat/desolate place.

I’ve been to Belarus a few years ago, that’s the nearest place I ever was from Pripyat. What a trip you must have had mate…

I still say, aside from the hospital in Pripyat and seeing the original sarcophagus before it was covered by the new containment shield (hur hur except literally), one of the coolest things was standing at the junction where the Pripyat sign is.

The Pripyat sign is at a small fork in the road with the red forest on the other side of the street. Standing at the sign, the geiger counter is pretty normal. The moment you step off the road towards the red forest, the meter gets louder, and before you can make it two feet, the counter is screaming that levels are too high to be safe anymore.

For those that are confused, concrete/asphalt are extremely good at absorbing radiation, so it doesn’t get past the street very much. Grass and trees and organic matter are really bad at absorbing it, though. “Absorbing” in this case means what you think it does, but also prevents ionized emissions from escaping the material. Once the material soaks up too much radiation, it stops absorbing it well and it gives off emissions once more. This is why the sarcophagus in Chernobyl has to be covered again, as the concrete has absorbed all the radiation it can before dangerous emissions can escape again. Your body, on the other hand, or grass/trees/etc, tend not to absorb the ionized particle and emit the ionization, hence why levels increase when you leave the road.
