What would your Tier list be of all of the mercs?

(YeOldeButtcheek) #1

With all of the mercs available as of now, I would say a tier list of who is the most rewarding to play/easiest, as to the hardest/worst should exist. Generally a list comprised of good to bad.
Even though a list compared to each person will be different, but I think they will be somewhat close.

My Squad/Mains:
Arty, Phantom, and Fletcher

Use or go similar to this type of listing- (This is my personal list)

Class S-
-Fragger
-Fletcher
-Sparks
-Phoenix
-Skyhammer
Class A-
-Kira
-Nader
-Bushwacker
-Sawbonez
-Proxy
-Stoker
-Aura
Class B-
-Arty
-Vassili
-Redeye
-Rhino
Class C-
-Phantom
-Thunder

(watsyurdeal) #2

S Tier - Best of the best, hands down
Nader
Sawbonez
Skyhammer

A Tier - Flexible and reliable, good all around
Phoneix
Sparks
Fragger
Bushwacka
Vasilli
Fletcher
Stoker

B Tier - Niche, but still good when used in the right place at the right time
Red Eye
Kira
Proxy

C Tier - Decent, but not potent enough to be worth using imo
Phantom
Thunder
Arty
Aura
Rhino

I put Fragger in A tier below Nader only because his 1 nade honestly isn’t as versatile as the nade lancher. Not only can I spam the fuck out of people with her, but I can destroy side objectives, damage the EV, one shot light classes with a direct hit, and her Martydom is no risk other you can’t be revived, but you can use that to your advantage with a hella aggressive playstyle. Plus, SMG9 and Crotzni are damn good despite being a tad unpredictable.

Skyhammer is just such a damn good merc, his marker can act as a light nade indoors, his ammo packs are fantastic, and the airstrike itself is simply the best anti EV tool, as well as amazing for multikills.

Sawbonez is just all around the best Medic, though Sparks and Phoneix are DAMN close, Sparks can cover long range fights and revives, and Phoneix is a great roaming Medic.

A tier is what I consider good but not quite the best, Fragger used to S tier imo, but I think Nader is rising if only because she can do a little more than Fragger can, whereas he’s just the best combat merc, period.

C tier is pretty much pub only mercs imo, I can not see them being used in competition, and B tier are niche mercs that you’ll rarely see used.

Small Edit: For the record, Thunder is actually damn powerful for combat, but his nades are lacking. That’s my only gripe with him, and Fragger, well, actually has nades that work so…yea. But strictly speaking in terms of a wrecking ball, Thunder really isn’t too bad.

Because you can already test the abilities in local servers, have been able to for months. That plus they were accessible in alpha. Also, they’re… just useless by design. Aimee is anyway, Turtle could be interesting but the size of the shield is a joke really.

I have used the abilities in-game, but nobody has played Turtle in-game ever.

Tier definitions first, cause it’s important to get that clarified when you make a tier list.

S-tier is always reliable in every situation. You can, and should, probably run at least one of these people in your squad at any moment. A-tier is a solid pick in their role, but has some exploitable weaknesses or some underperformance. B-tier can fill a very strong niche, and may outperform some A-tiers on the right map, but generally are either outclassed or rely on cheese. C-tiers are just lacking something to make them competitive, whether it be reliability or a strong niche.

Also, listing in order of within the tier. Higher up means higher on the tier list. Differences within tier lists outside of B-tier is pretty small though.

S-Tier
Fragger: the go to assault class. Strong guns, strong abilities, good health pool. What does it matter if you can’t do stuff if you kill everybody? You’ve got teammates to do that tricky stuff.
Sawbonez: the go to heal medic. Decent gun choices, great synergy with Fragger, good health pool.
Sparks: the go to revive medic. Revivr. 'Nuff said.
Skyhammer: the go to fire support. Good gun choices, solid and somewhat versatile fire support, good health pool. He’s somewhere between bottom S-Tier and top A-tier, so I put him in S-Tier because he’s free.

A-Tier
Fletcher: Strong engineer class. Decent gun choices, solid ability, good health pool.
Bushwhacker: Strong engineer class. Good gun choices, situational ability, good health pool.
Kira: Strong fire support. Good gun choices, situational (but very powerful) fire support, good mobility but small health pool.
Nader: Strong assault. Good gun choices, solid ability, good health pool.

B-Tier
Vasilli: the king of niche. If you’re good on Vasilli, you clear house. If you’re bad, you cry everytime.
Redeye: the king of cheese. If you’re good on Redeye, you make people very sad. If you’re bad, you make yourself very sad.
Stoker: Can, and probably should, replace Skyhammer as the go to fire support on Underground. Unfortunately, it’s only Underground, Skyhammer is generally better on most other maps.
Arty: Surprisingly strong despite the stigma. The burst rifle changes have been good to him, and his artillery strike has slowly been buffed to the point of being a pretty solid niche pick as a middle ground between Skyhammer and Kira. That being said, it’s still niche.
Phoenix: A good offensive medic that can theoretically swing the tide of a fight with a well-timed heal pulse. Unfortunately, that’s a very big theoretical that Sawbonez don’t worry about. Similar weapon choices too, so Phoenix is basically super outclassed.
Rhino: You want to be that asshole? Pick Rhino on Bridge or Underground and have a pocket Aura. You are now that asshole. Anywhere else and you’re probably kidding yourself.
Aura: You want to be that asshole? Pick Aura on Bridge or Underground and have a pocket Rhino. You are now that asshole. Anywhere else and you’re probably kidding yourself.
Proxy: You’re fast, you backplant, you’re generally a nuisance. Kinda like a mosquito. Unfortunately, you’re about as liable to be slapped as one.
Thunder: BET YOU DIDN’T THINK I’D LEAVE C-TIER FOR ONE MERC DIDJA? Thunder is alright, a little underwhelming, but he fills a niche. He’s likely to receive buffs soon anyways, but even before then he’s not half as bad as people put him out to be. The problem is just that anything Thunder can do Fragger can do better. Usually.

Cloak-Tier
Phantom: Hi Phantom! I’ll be leaving you down here until you figure out what you’re doing with your life. In the meantime, keep terrorizing pubs. And by terrorize, I mean delude new players into thinking they can run straight at people swinging a knife and get away with it.

ohboyherewego.jpg

GOD TIER
Fragger: literally the most broken thing ever, great guns, great HP, amazing ability, and no real downside besides the fact hes kinda slow.
Sawbonez: of all the medics, sawbonez can push out the most healing. Nuff said.
Sparks: has the ability to snipe AND revive at a distance, and can sustain her hp incredibly well, most likely secondary medic if not aura on defense.
Skyhammer: the most versatile fire support, good in combat, good at screwing the ev over, good in general.

STRONG TIER

Fletcher: great damage output for an engineer.
Bushwhacker: the turret can defend an area almost as well as another player, has good weapons.
nader: really strong assault, good damage, good area denial, good hp, very good at cracking defenses.
Stoker: best area denial in the game, can also be used as a mini frag grenade.

AVERAGE TIER

vasilli: has the ability to instantly down people and see through walls, which is unsuprisingly good.
redeye: can restrict other snipers and snipe them back, can cover objectives, versatile.
Rhino: has the best dps and hp, however is slow as hell and depends on medics so he doesnt die.
aura: has a sustainable constant heal which is great for defense.
Kira: has a fully controllable strike that can reach areas the airstrike cant, but is very squishy.
Phoenix: has the ability to heal multiple allies instantly, which is a great boon when attacking.
Arty: can kill the ev and other objectives on a very good cooldown, can rapidly deploy death from any distance.
Proxy: speedy harrasment, flanking, and engineering. mines can be devastating to single targets.

FUCKING AWFUL TIER

Phantom: can sometimes be useful at flanking and ambushing key targets, but generally isn’t good enough to be picked over the other killing classes.
Thunder: has an intended niche of initiating a group of enemies, but his ability is really weak and usually doesn’t effect enemies enough to matter, topped off with a vastly inferior gun to fragger, makes him the worst merc in dirty bomb currently. However he is getting buffs soon, which is good.

I hope some developers read this thread, would help them see what the community thinks of the merc balance.

(tominatorx) #15

I think almost every merc can have its use on the battlefield. The most important thing is that your team consists of a good combination of mercs.

(Tiers in order)
I feel all the medics and all the engineers are “really good” tier. If you know how to play them and on which map they are great at.

Fragger and Nader are good at breaking up entrenched positions, which they do well, there’s really nothing else you want them to do other than be slightly tanky and shoot things, which they do well too.

All the fire support mercs are well balanced to each other. But Arty and Skyhammer might be a cut above the others. Or maybe they’re just easier to play.

Rhino is situational in that he either automatically wins or gets hard countered, based on team compositions.

All the Recons are bad unless you get MLG good, in which case you can still pupstomb with them. They sure aren’t as easy to outsnipe as Battlefield recons. So they’re already more useful than those.

Thunder is bad.

I mostly play Proxy, Sparks, Nader. But I will also play Kira, Sawbones, Aura, Bushwacker, and probably Arty once I unlock him. I have tried all the others, except Thunder, and not enough of Fletcher.
Phoenix is cool too.

(ThiagoJaqueta) #19

My Squad/Mains:
Assault: Fragger
Medic: Sawbonez
Engineer: Fletcher
Support: Stoker
Recon: Phantom

Class S-
-Fragger (Best assault, nuff said)
-Fletcher (It’s like an assault merc, with Objective specialization)
-Sawbonez (Best combat Medic)
-Stoker (Skyhammer is nice to take out EV, but Stoker is great for indoors, which combine with my CQB style)

Class A-
-Phoenix (Great to heal yourself, but… 100 HP…)
-Skyhammer (Like Stoker, but better to take out EVs)
-Bushwacker (SMGs are awesome in this game)

Class B-
-Nader (I’m good with her, but I can’t like her)
-Arty (Didn’t used him too much, but I got rekt by other people using him)
-Rhino (For fingerless people, very effective tho)
-Phantom (He’s useless, but tons of fun)
-Thunder (Less useless, still fun)

Class C- (This doesn’t mean that they’re bad, but I’m bad with them)
-Sparks (Potato aim)
-Kira (I still don’t have her Stark loadout)
-Proxy (And I don’t have her Hochfir Loadout, so my opinion can change later)
-Aura (Shotguns… no thanks, the Blishlock is nice but…meeeh)
-Vassili (Potato aim 2)
-Redeye (Potato aim 3)
