What would you change or add in Brink 2?

(SnipingMeerkat) #1

More weapons and a better story like the one in the pre-release Container City previews.

(wolfnemesis75) #2

Not sure. Too early. I think we are in Month 2 of Brink’s life-span. There are more battles to be fought on the Ark. Also, there are too many “sore feelings” to post a Brink 2, lol. It won’t end well. Too busy playing Brink to worry about Brink 2.

My two cents.

Better gun mechanics (more accurate, less random spread), more parkour. These could technically be added or fixed in the current brink though hint hint.

Single player is pretty low on my list of things I look for in a multiplayer shooter and I don´t mind at all the weak implementation it got in brink (I kept myself informed and knew it wouldn´t be more than MP with bots) but if you are going to advertise it to an extent as having a single player “campaign” then make an actual single player portion and not just multiplayer with bots that way you iliminate one of the big complaints haters had for this game. Even section 8 prejudice, a $15 mostly mutliplayer had and actual single player campaign, nothing fancy or amazing but it worked and was fun enough.

TLDR: save yourselves (SD) the headache and make sure the publicists advertise the game exactly as it is whatever the next one ends up being (MP only, MP with offline bots, or MP with an actual SP).

Fair point, i see where you are coming from.

(nick1021) #5

A free game with a gift of $50 on each copy. But only one per user, and you have to have brink to get it.

(AmishWarMachine) #6

Functional Multiplayer Matchmaking

Anything else, would be icing.

(jazevec) #7

I would change the marketing. The pre-release videos would be an accurate representation of gameplay. I would focus more on gameplay videos instead of trailers, too.

(General Techniq) #8

Don’t know, yet.

(taodemon) #9

Like I said, I didn´t buy it for SP and I didn´t really expect one and I enjoy the game a lot other than the gun mechanics, so it was just a bit of advice to save them a bit of a headache for the next one.

-remove laggy, bumpy, glitchy feel
-increase speed
-re-introduce strafe and circle jumps
-improve animations
-remove interactable physics objects from maps or use something like havok
-design more balanced maps
-costumizable interface
-re-introduce player/object interaction from wolf:et, etqw
-add more than one gamemode
-f2p (just coze its currently pretty popular  )

(FireWorks) #11

Only a beta test

I typed up my Brink 2 ideas while flying last month on vacation. It is a looooooong read. Good luck!

Here we go:

Incorporate swimming. Have passages around levels to be able to swim through. Bonus is that you can get to places faster, negative is that you can not shoot while swimming and others can shoot at you if they see you.

Risky paths. Have risky walkways around levels with hazards incorporated. Examples:

  1. Thin planked walkway over an angry sea bass pit or toxic waste area. One misstep, you fall off, and buy bye.
  2. Canyon-like passageway between two large ships in the water that slowly move together and apart. If you can get through in time, you’re good, otherwise SQUISH! Sucks for Heavy to walk through, but heavies can just wait at one end of the passageway and mow down all the skinnies that have nowhere to go.
  3. A conveyer belt through garbage processing plant. Watch out for those crushers and grinders!

More movement of objects in water. It feels like we’re always playing on solid land, not a floating island in the ocean. Have docks, barges, boats, containers, etc, all as accessible areas around each map and make them bob up and down with the waves or move when stepped on. Currently, it all looks and feels too rigid.

Semi-destructible environments. It doesn’t have to be on the scale of Battlefield’s frostbite engine, since fully destructible environments can ruin a map’s specifically-designed balance. But, even if there were some objects like walls, barriers, doors, glass, etc that could be destroyed/rebuilt, It would add some extra strategy to each level. “Do I hide behind the destructible barrier for a better sightline down the alley, or do I stay behind the metal wall around the corner and just wait for them to get close?” I thought that the “Arkoral” substance was going to play a bigger part in the gameplay. Like, you could shoot at an arkoral wall or pillar and chip away at it, then over time, it would grow back. I guess not.

Civilians in the maps. I think that it would be great if some maps started on busy streets/airport/subway etc. There would be civvies everywhere and when the fight broke out, it would be pure madness. Ppl running and screaming everywhere. Big penalties if you end up shooting a civ. A map could empty out over time, with a few civs leftover hiding in corners or rooms. The Ark feels so empty right now. It’s like a large, empty, unpopular gay-friendly resort for psychopaths since there’s nothing but studly, ripped dudes fighting each other ALL THE TIME! Where the heck is everyone else on this Ark?!? Ladies! I demand sexy Aeon-Flux styled ladies! With jiggly-physics!

Forward diving. Just make Sprint->Jump->Crouch into a forward dive animation instead of always sliding. Once the dive lands, either go into a crouch or if it’s a long drop dive, tuck n roll! Yeah, that’ll look crazy in 1st person, eh? John Woo style.

Gun camos. Nerds love that shnizz. Ooh look, my gun has tiger stripes. That’s swell!

Class specific custom outfits. After choosing your character, not only do you get to design different outfits for Sec and Res, but also for each class type. I’d give my Resisitance Engy the orange hard hat and goggles, but my Resisitance Ops would have the ninja-like face mask bandana thing. Same thing for Security: Assault would be in full Tank armor, but medic would wear the hazmat suit gas mask thing. It wouldn’t be mandatory that a user has to customize each class for his characters if he doesn’t want to. The user can decide whether to roll with just one outfit per character OR setup custom outfits for each class.

Change characters in between matches. During a match, you are stuck using one character, but before Readying-Up in the next match, give us the option to switch to one of our other characters without having to leave the game.

Replays. PLEASE let us save replays of our matches. I’d love to learn strategies of my teammates and enemies. It’s a great tool, one I frequently used in Call of Duty. “How the heck did that guy do so well?!? Lemme watch… ooooooooh! Got it! I am gonna try that out next time!” Dirt3 and Just Cause 2 even let you save clips directly to YouTube. Talk about free marketing! Hello! If I could post all the cool shnizz I’ve done so far in Brink to YouTube and my Facebook account, I’d probably be able to convince more friends to buy this game. I posted one stupid clip of me in Dirt3 missing a bridge and jumping my car through the ravine and a friend said “Ha, sweet! I am buying that game!” He now owns Dirt3, but not Brink.

Taunts. Tea bagging is so yesterday. Let us do showboating taunts after we kill enemies and they’re forced to watch us while incapacitated. The Robot, Moonwalk, Cabbage Patch, Sprinkler, Raise the Roof, Arsenio Hall fist pump, The Worm, etc etc. Then, if you get shot while showboating, the enemy who shot you gets extra XP for the Embarrassment bonus.

Back button on 360/PS3 displays team stats/players’ selected Objectives. That way, you can see how your teammates are doing AND what they’re doing. If you see a teammate with no current Obj selected, you can ask them “Dude, wtf?”

Order bots around in single player or co-op modes. If you WANT a couple of bots to escort you, or to go do the Main Obj themselves, it would be great to give them a direct command to do so. Then ppl might stop bitching about the “dumb” AI not playing perfectly all the time. Wouldn’t want this in versus matches though, because which players have priority over the bots? Might have some jackass griefer ordering all the bots to escort him and then go hide in a corner the entire game. That would be lame.

Xbox games/server listings like PC has. I wanna know which active game/server has 8 or more people. When my friends are on, it’s not a big deal, because there are 6+ of us with the game. But when I am online solo, I almost always get put into a match by myself on only 1 other player.

Smoke grenades for Medics. This is a tactical teamwork style game. Smoke grenades are tactical devices great for concealing troop movement or when reviving teammates. Smoke. SMOKE!

Operative team buff of some sort. Every other class has a buff. Engy gives weapon and Kevlar, Assault gives Ammo, Medic gives Health, Metabolism, Adrenaline, and Revive. The Operative gives nothing. I feel so greedy playing as an Op. Everyone buffs me and I cannot reciprocate except if I manage to comms hack a downed enemy to give my teammates full radar. But that’s pretty much it. We should maybe buff teammates’ personal radar sweep to let them see more, or give them a temporary cloak device that lasts 5-10 secs or something.

Okay, that’s all I got for now. If you made it this far, you’ve got a lot of free time…

(nick1021) #13

OH! Okay how about they re-make brink. Completely polish it, add some more content to it and BALANCE BALANCE BALANCE. Let us use custom colors for customization. Add cutscenes like in the videos ONLY when playing sp. Add a vanity store like tf2.

Then when they release it, it should cost like 10 bucks. And free for those who bought brink.

  1. It will get a LOT of players.
  2. If done right, they can make a lot of money out of it.

(AmishWarMachine) #14

Imagine how different (read: wicked, IMO) Brink 2 could be, if it implemented Frostbite 2 (or something just like it).

EDIT: I see now that SinDonor’s post had something similar to this and beat me to the punch~

(nick1021) #15

But lack of content still kills it.

Yeah, I thought I read some preview a long long time ago about the Arkoral substance in the game and how it would be implemented in gameplay. Guess they ran out of time and or money to get it done right.
