Can you imagine a Short story(Synopsis) of what going on in London at DB timeline.
That can answer these questions :
London was evacuated in 2020
Who are the Mercs ?
Are they hired by Military authority or gang/mafia/terrorist related?
Why they Fighting?
Whats their goals?
Where they get their weapons?
If they are there now without protection, its must be safe now …why civils cant return to london ?
Ok Ill answer the question legitimately.
Who are the Mercs ?
Their names are Westbrook, Durant, Rose, Wade, & Lebron
Are they under Military authority or gang/mafia/terrorist related?
No
Why they Fighting?
Durant is searching London for a rare protein powder, which would turn him into the most powerful man alive.
However Lebron has it under his supervision, and is keen on keeping it that way.
And ofcourse there is Rose, who has his own agenda but is somewhat affiliated with Durant.
They have similar goals in taking out Lebron.
Goals?
Find the substance, take it… and win the NBA World Championship

here my story :
After a terrorist attack with dirty bombs from a unkowned group .London was evacuated in 2020 .
Leaving only few humanitory personnel like hospital and some security agents on secured sites.
In the name of Her majesty ,mercs whas hired to do the Dirty job that is
Indentify this group and bring the authors of these attack in justice that we beleive some cells are still active in london
Our Mercs work with the military support , they must report any new informations about these groups as they gathering it .
On the other hand the authors of the attacks also hired mercs to block all efforts from her majesty special mercs squad to acheive their missions ;by engaging close combat with them ,doing some attacks on multiple targets in London and misleading them to false route …these mercs will use all they can find for your mission to fail .
Caputure them if possible ,Bring them to justice and London will be free and population will regain the city as soon the decontamination is completed.

Because the developer’s wont let us have the fun of mowing down civils. Just kidding. Why should there be civils? no idea.
I’m pretty sure there was something said a while ago along the lines of they are just a bunch of guns for hire working for various clients who are using the chance of an evacuated London to steal secrets, assets and wealth by various means from other companies that had offices in London. The reasoning was that you could just use this basic premise each time for a reason to be fighting in a given area, I could just be remembering it wrong though but think that was the general gist of things, correct me if wrong please. If you listen to the voice over at start of some of the maps he talks about their client for the mission.

Chapter 1: Journey to a fresh pair of underwear :(.
I do care only a bit of the story, but if there is a story, it has to be consistend and logically. At the moment i see a little problem with that in DB or i lack imagination, but defending data cores to keep them at a radioactive area does not make any sense to me. Is there a special power grid which can not be replaced by some other location, or is there a supercomputer somewhere, which is so important, that the data cores must stay there? No matter what i think of a possible scenario, i can not make it consistent enough to keep me excited or thrilling. It does not have to be uber exciting, but it has to have some inner logic imo. If that is flawed, i feel spoiled somehow.
P.S. as for story, i wish there was some mercenary leaders which will appear in the top left corner of the screen, similar to crysis 2. I have only found a more less good example, because i did not find the scene on youtube which has this doctor speaking, but here at minute 13:36 this is about what i imagine could fit into DB alongside with instructions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGgBS8aain0

…I finally understood why they hit this city… they will not do this for some oil and some green… to wipe a world…my life, for some secret hidden under this city? … why did i trust them? why did i trust them with my family?.. they said they will be safe, far away from this, on some hidden island…an Ark… It this another lie?
