What to expect from the next major update? (ReV)

This just covers one of the six icons on that phone. I imagine it’s going to cost a decent chunk of “cycles” to buy it, too. I’ll wait for more info before complaining - so far I’m actually excited, glad to see something different.

So once en masse players choose some merc off free rotation, we’ll get 1 loadout card for that merc?

Okay. My partner and I were both cautiously hyped about this event but we knew there’d be some fine print somewhere with some diarrhea on it, so I’m glad we know what it is now.

ETA: Not only that but apparently you can only buy 1 Culprit Case which will have all the loadouts inside of it for the Culprit-merc. Will RNG will determine your 1/9 chances of getting the loadout you want, and if it’s an ass loadout, well, too bad! You only get one case. But at least the merc has a new skin?

Or do you get to have all the loadout variations in the case?

Knowing what I know of DB, I’m assuming it’s some RNG clusterfuck and you only get one card and too bad if it’s not the one you want. Hopefully I’m wrong but, double too bad anyway if it’s not even the merc you were hoping for, I guess.

Well… We all know Vassili won’t be in there… or Phantom for that matter.

I was intrigued, I really was but I was expecting a little something to go wrong at some point. Surely enough… I was right. Usually it feels good to be right. Not in this case. I’m tired of expecting crap and receiving crap SD. Surprise me.

This is just one other pretty card that will be sitting in my inventory if RNGesus shits in my face like it always seems to do in this game. Whoever the merc may be… I don’t even know if I’m gonna like the merc to begin with… I will have a 1 out of 9 chance to get the card I desire.

I could be wrong though… I mean if that case contains all the different loadout cards of that one mercenary and I mean all of them… No little line, scrolling cards bullshit and landing on only one. I mean ALL of them. If that’s the case then that doesn’t sound too bad. But knowing SD and Nexon… I don’t know. We need a little more clarification.

Why not just make new loadout cards for all the mercs and make everyone happy? Why is it required to have little shit stains on every good sounding idea that SD has? Minimum effort to just make one new loadout card for one mercenary I guess. I’m pretty sure SD already got this all figured out. They already know which merc is the most played with their little statistics programs. The loadout cards have probably already been made based on those stats lmao and all this is to make it somewhat “interesting”.

This would’ve been a good occasion to introduce special items - skins separated from loadouts. You select a loadout you want in any rarity and then apply the skin same way as you equip a trinket and voila - you get the loadout you want with the special skin.

But no, clearly everyone loves loadout RNG and we need to continue down this path. Merc chosen by free rotation, artificially limited to 1 case. Yep, gonna enjoy my OMG special skin H31 Fletcher or something equally “good”.

I’m just hoping there’s going to be something else to buy with cycles that doesn’t involve RNG at all.

For fucking real, omg… I’m so tired of this. I was actually pretty hyped we might get some cosmetic items… not just trinkets, but skins because the dude was a fashion icon or what the fuck ever. It seemed pretty obvious we’d get something new, something fresh. Everyone, not just “the majority says they like this merc and fuck everyone else”. But no, of course not. I’m so sad and disappointed.

Right now this event is very suspiciously lacking anything that earns SD/Nexon money. Unless their plan is to sell a fuckton of credit boosters. Which I hope won’t work because they’re priced way to high. Even the most consumer friendly event to date, Phoenix merc/Obsidian giveaway, encouraged you to buy him with real money if you wanted the card without grinding credits.

Indeed but for the rest of the loadout system, if you don’t get what want, you can still get it later by buying elite cases/expert cases, and if that’s the way they make money that’s perfectly fine, it’s a F2P. But that’s an event case, and if you don’t get what you want, you’re fecked and that’s it, you’ll never be able to get what you want anymore. There is no money to be made for SD/Nexon, at least not directly from the event case. So that shouldn’t be RNG no matter how the Silver/Gold/Cobalt system is. There is no point in RNG here except for pissing off people who get a horrible loadout.

Once they’ll eventually implement trading into the game, I would imagine the event cards will be able to be traded, they don’t feel that bound to you at least as obsidian cards. Plus they are handling it well for an F2P. No loadout really gives you an upper hand if you both can shoot, and skins don’t definitely make you any stronger. I think they’re having a hard time here, at least now everyone who wants to get the case will definitely get SOMETHING. I didn’t get anything on the containment war event, and I don’t mind. I got a bad dickens card, but I don’t mind. If I’ll get a cruddy culprit card I’ll never use, I don’t mind. I don’t even use my only cobalt and most of my gold because they are bad cards, but I don’t caaaaare. They are just skins. So yes there is point other than pissing people off, giving them (probably) cool skins
