Did you see the presentation? Too bad the customization isn’t shown in the videos on the net.

While customizing the character there was a hint to switch between Security and Resistance with L/R (only Resistance was shown)*. Your character may have two completely independent looks. If you don’t want your security ego to have tattoos you simply won’t give him any. The two factions are symmetrical so unlocked abilities won’t be a problem.

 • that’s a fact, the rest is speculation

There’s not much to discuss. I’ll simply post a question in the Q&A. :)
I had one glance at a pre-rendered shitty youtube video before it was taken down.

Yeah I definitely like to hear the devs on this because this complicates the entire campaign conintuity any more.
Slowly looking forward to the game.

Security = Axis
Rebel = Allies …mhmm not sure about that one :stuck_out_tongue:

Security offcourse ;)
but then again, security is GDF, and rebel is strogg.

(tokamak) #24

Sure, but strogg are clearly axis.

(Senyin) #25

Rebel
Strogg <3
Axis
Horde
Dark side

I always prefer the “bad” guys.
And I know both sides suppose to be good but still…
I will play both though.

(H0RSE) #26

If you had to separate them as bad and good, see the Rebels as the ‘good guys.’ The Security is like the government putting the man down, and the Rebels are the little people that just want and deserve more.

(tokamak) #27

Tsk, it’s the security who had offered them to come aboard in the first place.

(Mustang) #28

Hmm, I don’t know
My general thinking is that Resistance = Allies/GDF side

(system) #29

Yeah thats true. Thats why i ain’t sure but i (bash me) compare shooters to Quake3 or RTCW/ET.
Axis (maps) are mostly designed to defend and Allies mostly attack.
(ET/RTCW i am talking about)

So i thought Rebel attacks (Allies) and Security defends (Axis, securing something)…

I must have played too much ET to come to this thinking.
Anyway, i like to have a bad and good side. But thats a different view anyone has. I like playing Axis a lot wich other find evil (nazis ? ) cause they are the evil germans and bla …but thats just a point of view who you think who is bad or good…if both are good for all, why fight

Never played QW tho :frowning: Only the beta and i did not like it despite my 30 Euro graphiccard but as soon QW-Live hits Europe, i will surely play it.

(.Chris.) #30

Strogg entities in the SDK are Blue (Allies blue in ET) and GDF entities are Red (Axis Red in ET)

(tokamak) #31

Strogg have more defense maps just like the Axis.

(Rahdo) #32

Both sides will have an equal number of offense and defense maps in Brink.

A part of customization can still be seen here: http://www.bluegamer.net/2009/08/14/brink-customization-videos/ Bear in mind, that was a totally bogus interface we threw together very quickly for E3. Not representative of the real deal.

The real deal is basically, when you first create a character, you choose stuff about him that’s permanent, which you can’t change later (skin colour, voice, face, tattoos & scars). Afterwards, you get to choose two outfits for him: one that he’ll wear when he’s playing in a security team, and one when he’s in a resistance team.

Then, as you’re playing through either campaign, you’ll always see him in his appropriate outfit. If you’re not playing through a campaign and are just jumping into specific matches, he’ll again be in one of those two outfits. You can unlock new clothes and stuff to change his look, but your character always has these 2 outfits he wears.

If you have multiple characters, the same is true for each one of them.

(madness) #33

I couldn’t really tell security guys from resistance ones in the gameplay vids :o

All looked the same to me :stuck_out_tongue:

(Rahdo) #34

Yup, that’s a fair point. Of course, those vids were from 6 months ago

(signofzeta) #35

It doesn’t matter which side you are on, in the long run, once you click the rebel side, your security guy takes off his clothes and wears ratty tatty clothes anyway.

The reason why Resistance, strogg, and Allies are the same because they want to attack an already existing populated area.

Axis, GDF, and Security already own the area, well at the time when the game started anyway.

Both security and rebels don’t have a good or bad. They are only good to their own side, and to me, I pick whichever.

Great now my brain is cracking again. How does this work if a player changes sides mid-match to even the balance out? A player plays resistance with his friends first, hops on to security, if security wins, would he have to leave his friends because they need to play the round again?

 my brain…

that’s what you get for being a TRAITOR. NO just joshin ya, but I assume that would be the case though. I think this thing might ENCOURAGE stacking. You want to be with your friends the whole time, but if you want to play fair, you have to abandon your friends. I wonder how they will fix that.

there is always 16 players by default, non-human player slots are taken by AI bots

(tokamak) #39

That’s not the point. Brink is set up in such a way that you’re not playing against the same team twice in a match so if one of your friends moves to the next team he’ll go with the rest.

(Nail) #40

Depends on the server, it’s been said you don’t have to follow storyline
