What Radiant are you using?

(th0rn3) #1

I just wonder what version of Radiant are you using and why?
I personaly use both 1.4 and 1.5 . Main version is 1.5, coz its faster and 1.4 is just for gtkgensurf

(Dinius) #2

1.5
Terrain I do manually

(Moedervlekje) #3

1.3.8…
I feel nub
lol

(murka) #4

1.4
only useage for 1.5 is when maps are huge, they get laggy(like goldrush) and i need to use 1.5 or else i get 1fps.
1.4 is just awesome, the freedom you have with brush manipulating.

(aaa3) #5

1.5

(btw if u only use 1.4 coz of gensurf then uninstall it and get fate or easygen idk, someone already suggested this to u… or search other advantages of 1.4 :p)

(th0rn3) #6

where can I get those?

(aaa3) #7

. search ;p

(th0rn3) #8

AWESOME! xD

(aaa3) #9

lol we spammers xD (2x100)

(Moedervlekje) #10

I have a question about 1.5, how can you shrink your brushes? cuz just clicking on the lines and dragging never works with me… You gt to hold a key or so?

(th0rn3) #11

you meant resizing?

Tick the QE4 tool (QE- button up there) or press w 2 times. Then click somewhere and hold your left mouse button and move it, release when done. You should do it on 2d most of the times.

Edit And I use 1.5 only and do my terrains by hand. Create 256 tris, select vertex groups, and press “+” or “-” from right numpad and it moves it up and down. This is prolly the fastest way. It is important to move it only vertically. Up and down, not to the sides.

(th0rn3) #13

oh, interesting. I didnt know that -_- . Did you know that you can make terraing in GenSurf using images? They work as a trace maps. White is high and black is low, easy to make hills

(kamikazee) #14

It is easy, that’s right, but manual-made terrain can look so much better if you invest some time in it. Also, manual made terrain works better if you need some more organic looking stuff, like rounded cliffs.

And imagine the feeling when you have spent some hours (prolly days, not to discourage you ofc.) and it looks awsome. That’s a nice feeling. And then you can really say I made this cool terrain by myself.

(stealth6) #16

hahahahaha not to discourage you :stuck_out_tongue:
I had that problem when starting on my current project, I thought a quick job, now I’m already working on it for a month or so :frowning:

But the best part is releasing the map and everybody saying omfg thats amazing then u really glow

mainly using 1.4 and for some things what 1.4 dont have i use 1.5
