What program to use???

(vaneem) #1

I have looked all over this website, gone through countless links, and NOWHERE does it say specifically what program to use and where to download it. So what program? and where can I download it?

(Erls) #2

WOW!

Google GTKRadiant.

And yes, this program is named on this site, all over the place.

(vaneem) #3

none of those stickies at the top say gtkradiant in them anywhere…
also, I can not find anywhere to download it from. on rtcwfiles it was corrupt and will not install, on the qeradiant site the whole site is just broken. on fileplanet there are no servers to download from. I logged in but still the only server is the premium paid servers. It does not even give me the option to use a free public server. Can anyone provide me with a direct link to the download please?

this one works:
GtkRadiantSetup-1.4.0-Q3RTCWET

(RayBan) #5

the 1.5’s are here i believe…
http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/files/radiant/nightly/1.5/

(Nail) #6

oooh, thanks for that link, for some reason thought they only did torrents

(RayBan) #7

personaly i prefer 1.3.13… its practicly perfect… except for large ase models,
so im forced to use 1.5, but if you don’t intend to make a map made up of
model meshe’s only, try to get 1.3.13… it ownz… =)

when i first tried 1.5 i was lost. now that i’ve figured it out(and built it a couple times) it completely smokes all the previous versions. i don’t think i’ve fired up 1.4 in over a month.

(broloi) #9

Well… i got like 1.5 and 1.4…

I need some features in 1.4 that i cant find in 1.5, but im mapping in 1.5, because im so used to it…

(OogieBoogie) #10

1.5 is best when we get used to it

(murka) #11

well 1.5 is still beta, maybe its better but it has bugs, when it really comes out it’ll be the best ofc

(ajdude) #12

1.5 isnt beta…

i have the release…

err i upload it when i can ok?

(Shaderman) #13

Sure you have…

(Nail) #14

shhh, it’s a secret, even from the writers

(murka) #15

it has been secretly released? damn you. now the whole world knows it

(Darkfrost) #16

Anyway, I normally use 1.3.8-ET, but now i’m using 1.5, and I was wondering about a few things.

In 1.3.8, Lets say I have a textured wall and a caulked wall, To texture the wall I would just select the caulk wall, then select a textured face on the textured wall, then deselect it, and the texture view would go to that texture. (Then i would just click it to to texture it) However, this doesnt happen in 1.5

How may I do this?

Also, I have no Z (Height) Bar at the left. How do I get this back?

Thanks!

(kamikazee) #17

It can be done, though the process is slightly different and involves some mouse+key presses which aren’t listed in the keybinds window. Shaderman or EB might answer this.

I believe you can get the Z-bar back by choosing your preferred layout from the GTKRadiant options window. I wonder though why you’d keep on using it if you have XY, XZ and YZ views… but whatever floats your boat.

(broloi) #18

[shift]+[ctrl]+mouse click on surface.

Thats the way you select one surface.

(Darkfrost) #19

Yeah, i know that  I mean, before when i did it, it selected the texture on that (In the texture window) Now, it doesnt.

(Shaderman) #20

IIRC I removed that functionality because it didn’t work well with the new texture browser.
You can copy and paste textures though. Select the source face - CTRL+C - select the target face - CTRL+V. You can also paste the selected texture with CTRL+SHIFT+MMB.

Also, I have no Z (Height) Bar at the left. How do I get this back?

Someone has to code it back, but currently you won’t find somebody willing to do it. I suggest using the 3rd layout anyway.
