What program for 3D skinpacking?

(Ultra_Ultimo) #1

Hello,

Could someone tell me a good program that’s free or non-time-limit shareware, good, and should work on Vista 64-bit to make a 3D skinpack for Wolf:ET? I believe I need to be able to open .md3, .mdc, and .mdl files, to do this, am I right?

Editing for example the Thompson from it’s .tga image had a funny reaction, like using a 2D map of the world and trying to sphere it into a globe of the world, so I assume I did that wrong.

I found some sources for programs like these, but there’s alot more than that’ll work for me, takes a long time trying each one.

Thanks for any help!

Only a skinpack?
Or do you want to create new player and weapon models?
If you want to create only new skins you can use any freeware graphics program.
The only one I know is gimp.

He think 3d paint program - you can import 3d model and paint on it. I know commercial Bodypaint 3d , Deep Paint 3d, meshpaint 3d … Free are Tattoo, Claymod 3d, Pointshop 3d, Blacksmith 3d(Blacksmith limited free version) . Search here in Other modeling application - free modeling programs http://3dnow.informe.com You should also try those you found . Sometime to import model in 3d paint program require change graphics format - free file converter (Lithunwrap, Biturn )

Null, I already have, and used GIMP, to edit the .tga image for the Thompson, which I don’t know if that’s the file I should have edited to do so.

Is it possible/allowable on here to show my 2 screenshots showing what I’m talking of?

Kic, thanks, I tried all the ones you mentioned but, Claymod 3D’s link was either down or broken at this time, didn’t find Pointshop 3D, Tattoo couldn’t open .md3, .mdc, .mdl files that ET uses, Blacksmith 3D didn’t support those file types either.

I tried others too, no luck, I think the most common problem is programs not supporting those file extensions, one works with .md2 but not .md3. One I tried is md3 compiler but all I could do is load a .md3 file and rotate it around without editing it, think compiler isn’t what I need, or atleast not the only thing I need.

I skipped Milkshape 3D because it’s time-limited 30-day trial, after 30 days it’s either purchase or lose it, and on chance it is download-only purchase I wouldn’t buy it like that, not without some CD or other physical format.

Any other ideas anyone? Thank you.

You must make tric. Import your md3 model into Lithunwrap , here save as 3ds and import into Tattoo for painting. Then import your painted 3ds model into milkshape or md3 compiler and export md3. Other modelers exporting md3 - misfit model 3d,lodka 3d, gmax and other

Yes please show the screenshots.

There are md3 import and export scripts for Blender.
Blender is free.

The only program that supports the player model of W:ET is lightray3d.
But it’s not freeware.
