What Merc's to Buy?

(mirthfulBaguette) #1

I have been pondering the idea of recruiting new mercenaries, but I am unsure which merc I should buy next. I have already bought Vassili, Skyhammer, and Aura. I like to get loads of kills, but still be able to play the objective or revive downed teammates, any suggestions?

Sawbonez is a good pick if you want a combat medic. Excellent healing capability, good SMG primaries, and 110 health. He’s awesome.

Just to add on, if you want a Combat-objective based merc, Bush or Fletcher (personally i like Bush more) is a solid pick.

The other Medics are Sawbones, and Sparks.
Sawbones: Combat medic with the most health of all the medics, he throws health packs that regenerate the health of whoever picks it up to full unless they are shot while it is still regenerating. He has a capable primary weapon and a Defib like aura. He is currently the most popular medic in competitive

Sparks: Backline medic with low health high speed, she has a decent smg primary but most people rely on her Revivr gun, which can pick up people like the defib, but from any range if you have line of sight. It additionally works as a decent sniper weapon, dealing high damage if you charge it up. Usually not as good for wracking up large numbers of kills, but she is good at staying alive if you’re fast and use her 20hp med packs for yourself, since they’re usually not worth giving all to allies.

The engineers are Proxy, Bushwacker, and Fletcher.
Proxy: Fast low health engineer with a shotgun. She’s good at flanking objectives and giving the enemy a hard time. She can drop proximity mines, which are great for guarding your teams flanks, causing havoc behind enemy lines, or defending objectives.

Bushwacker: Mid health engineer with a good primary gun and a deployable turret. The turret is very effective if placed and used intelligently. A well rounded engineer that can turn the odds of a fight by effectively adding another player to your team.

Fletcher: Mid health engineer with a slightly weaker and slower shotgun, with the advantage of less spread which makes it more effective at longer ranges, and his strong secondary guns allows him to fight at mid ranges successfully. His ability is sticky bombs, he has 3 at a time and they allow him to play very aggressively, he can clear out enemy encampments and fortifications very easily. They are much harder to spot than proxy mines which makes them ideal for guarding c4. A player that learns how to use sticky bombs well easily becomes the most aggressive of the three engineers.

I would like to add to latest post that Fletcher is hands (and pants) down sexiest beast introduced to the game so far.

And that who wouldn’t enjoy a mercenary able to do this?

I feel it overall depends on your playstyle. For me I am a very defensive player so I tend to go for a lineup of Rhino, Bushwhacker, and either Kira or Arty. Of course they also switch out with the missions.
