I like the gun - full auto is bad for me and bursts are even worse. Arty’s ability is useless in many maps, and I feel like gimping myself when I use him in such closed maps.

I believe it was only Arty that had access to that rifle. At least I can’t recall seeing it on any other merc.
also can’t recall any mercs having it. Surely some of the ones not ‘completely’ released like Aimee or Kira would have access to it
Kira has the AUG as default, right? Seems reasonable she’d have access to it.
^Yep, I believe she might also get the Dreiss, and maybe red eye since its closer to his battle rifle than a sniper rifle.
What is Redeye’s primary? Given his role as a sniper, I would’ve assumed a DMR or something like that ( if it’s not an actual sniper rifle ).
Like caerfulCoral said, an m14 style battle rifle, although I’ve seen in earlier alpha that he has access to sniper rifles, but they seem really unfitting since his entire premise is to work the exact opposite of Vasili and Aimee, blinding enemies with smoke grenades and coming in close with his rifle rather than staying in the back, heres a video.
Also the class archtype is normally refered to as Recons; marking enemies for their teammates, in Redeye’s case also blinding his enemies and in Phatom’s case it was more about being hidden from enemies.
That’s why for example Assaults are all about damage dealing and recieving, in Nader’s case she focuses more in indirect fire and explosions but lacks the beefiness to withstand attacks but still I personally think 100 is too low, Fragger who’s a bit of the everything, armed with grenades a lmg and assault rifles, Thunder who I suspect might have more access to lmgs if Fragger doesn’t gain accesss to his original one/Thunder’s current default along with even more health than Fragger and stun grenades, and finally Rhino having no grenades at all but uses a minigun as a special ability.
I hope it’s something like an M14 EBR and not a 1960s M14. I’m actually interested in Redeye now, though. I thought he was another sniper. I’m a huge fan of smoke grenades, and that sounds great.
Does his rifle just use iron sights, though? Or does it have optics of some sort? I could see the Dreiss working, even though I personally find it easier to use at short range. Pew pew, headshot.
Also, really looking forward to seeing Thunder. Just, you know, since you mentioned him.
Its more of modern EBR and it doesn’t use optics, just basic iron sights, really hope he also gets access to the more powerful semi automatic rifles used by Fire Supports.
As for Thunder, I really loved him mostly due to his personality, he had 160 hp and moved as slow as Fragger, his grenades basically stilted your mouse sensitivity and or blinded and couldn’t be cooked if memory serves right, as for his lmg, his and Fraggers default lmgs were swapped, Fragger now has Thunders original that has 50 ammo but hits harder while Thunder’s has 80 ammo per mag, and a faster rate of fire.
I really hope future loadouts lets them swap lmgs though.
Arty is very good now, i don’t remember other merc using the DREISS AR.
The DREISS AR is good in almost every situation, since they buff the fire rate, it out dps the m4 at close range.
It’s my favorite merc so far.
Red eye will takes his place some day.
Did they buff the Dreiss AR while it was gone? Last time I checked, it had terrible recoil, spray, damage, the works. At least I think I’m talking about the same gun. Not only that, but Arty as a whole was in desperate need of a buff.
I really like the feel of the Dreiss, semi auto rifles in general (always loved the Combat Rifle in Blacklight Retribution) but i think some point are kinda bad. The firerate was buffed in one of the recent patches but I don’t see a situation where you could use that for it’s full potential (except when the enemy is right up your face) In ads the recoil is too hight to really use fast shooting and when you fire from the hip the spread gets unbearable after the 3 fast shot in a row. Maybe I use it wrong, but wouldn’t it be better to have a lower ads recoil and/or a better hip spread then buffing it’s fire rate?
I wanted to play Arty. I suck really, really bad with the Aug. I can’t use it from hip, and it gets even worse with “scope” The BR isn’t my friend either.
The Dreiss AR can fire 3-4 shots from hip before it’s spread makes you miss a barn door. While iron-sighting it, it’s really accurate and the recoil is manageable. It hits like a truck from the right distance - I do not want to lead the charge when playing Arty.
My place, when I can pick it, is just outside of the range of most automatic weapons.
I think it’s mostly my fault why I don’t like automatic weapons though - I tend to spray & pray, never letting down the mouse. I guess it’s better to use controlled bursts on automatic weapons than get used to the Dreiss after all :neutral:
The faster firerate is quite a good buff suprisingly, was rather sceptical when I read the changelog.
But the thing is as others have said the Dreiss stays fairly accurate for the first couple of shots,the problem was with the old firerate that even the most movement impaired fragger had the time to dodge those accurate shots between the firing delay.
Now with the faster firerate follow up hits are alot easier.
And with the high damage it does everything dies with 2-3 headshots so all in all a good buff without tampering with damage / accuracy.
Personaly I prever semiautomatic over the Burstfire but I do that in every game. The burstrifles imo are for people that constantly land headshots first and suck at follow up hits. The semiautomatics are better for people that need 1-2 shots to home in on their target but can follow up.
