What Map Is This Picture From?

(Mr-Penguin) #1

So I saw this picture while I was poking around for some concept art and screenshots when DB was known as Extraction and I was just wondering, what map is shown in the picture? I can’t think of any current maps with any surroundings like this, but since I know there used to be long-form versions a few maps, I’d assume this is Bridge long-form.

Any insight would be appreciated!

pretty certain its an extended version of bridge

if only game looked like that now

That’s exactly what I thought. I heard that Bridge longform was cut because matches were way too long. I’d love to see it come back sometime though.

I think that’s what DB’s art and lighting were like back in Alpha, when it was known as Extraction.

Welp, found some gameplay footage of Bridge longform.

Edit: Found some more.

From the looks of it, you have to repair the EV, blow up two barricades, steal and deliver the drug samples to the EV, destroy a third barricade, and then escape.

Yeah, I can see why it was cut now.

Maaaaaaan, the levels like that look so much better, And a hell of a lot more like London.

Looks so much fun, wouldn’t mind see the maps like this again, or at least implementing them somehow while keeping the maps we have now too.

the objectives even made sense unlike they do now, you use the EV to go in and actually, you know, do some extracting, and then having to use it as a get away vehicle. As for chapel, the construction lift serves an actual purpose, allowing you to escort it closer to the final objective. because at the moment it just doesn’t really seem to do anything, like, why does it matter if it goes to the lift or not?! just helps the role play in the game a bit more once you have actual logic in place.

Sure the game plays well as it is now, but i cant see why the maps can’t be more like how they used to, they seemed to play fine. i get that some areas had to be tweaked for balance sake… but still, looks so good.

YOU COULD EVEN GO INSIDE THE CHAPEL!!! THAT LOOKED SO AWESOME!!!

And don’t even get me started on how damn good those graphics looked, lighting was so nice, and like I said, Looks a lot more like London/realistic.

and improvement to the graphics and shaders would be nice too see again.

I knew I’m not the only one who thought this.
Dirty bomb pre-Alpha was the shit. It was more dark, gloomy, and gritty. The announcer sounded way more realistic with static too. This is the way a game portraying a nuclear fallout should be.

But now they made DB something laughable and facetious.

I’d prefer this map more than the one we have now

I like the game as it’s now. Pre alpha looks all grey too me.

With a saturation filter, massive muzzle smokes for not seeing shit when you shoot and lights that blind you? No thanks.

(Ctrix) #15

If the game looked like that, everyone would be complaining they can’t run it at a decent framerate.

true, the blue filter on several maps is quite annoying…especially on Chapel.

@Ctrix which is pretty much exactly what happened XD They had to remove lots of map details such as the pigeons and rats - these absolutely demolished frame-rates :frowning: I’m glad it doesn’t look so CoD/Battlefield-esque now… Over-the-top effects for no reason isn’t really my bag, I love the current art style.

yeah I don’t have any issues with the design. It’s really quite good.
