what is your main class and why

(Tom12121112) #1

again, because this forum needs a bit more discussion in it.

my main class was a medic/engineer. i rarely played medic because everyone in my group already plays it. i did pretty well as engineer, and generally pulled most kills in about 80% of the matches i played. i also noticed that my group had a lack of soldier players, and figured i would give him a shot, seeing as my slaying abilities could probably be even further taken advantage of with soldier.

so here i sit, a soldier/engineer while maining soldier.

My most successful character was an Engineer but now my main character plays a Soldier class.

The next will propably be Medic. So as you can see, I don’t have one main class because I get bored too easily.

I enjoy the firepower a Soldier with a Heavy build has but I hate to watch Medics and Engineers do nothing and we end up losing like 8 out of 10 games. No amount of HE charges I plant or no matter how many times I kill the whole enemy team cannot compensate for n00b engineers running around.

Engineer. And a whole lot of Engineer. Then Medic and some Operative. And Soldier when some explosives need to be planted. Reason: I am the Objective Support Guy. I get the job done.

Personally I’m big on medic and soldier. For medic there’s so much going on as you play the class from sliding to dodge fire on your way to rez someone, making sure everyone’s healed, to being able to be a self-healing killing machine. Also for random pub play I find this is a generally under/poorly played class.

Soldier on the otherhand provides an absolute wealth of grenades and staying and slaying power. Also if you know the right paths it’s fun to rush to the objective and get a plant off before the other team even knows what’s going on.

Engineer. If he isn’t building/disarming/dehacking a main or secondary objective he’s great for defending both offensive and defensive objectives. The only area where the Engineer is a bit weak is during escort missions but for stationary objectives the Engineer rules. In fact, I’ve been forcing myself to play the other classes so my stats page doesn’t look so one-sided.

My Main is an Heavy Engineer/Soldier, Primarily the Engineer side. I play the Soldier when the Objective side is covered and either my team has enough engineers on it that are doing at least a decent job, or I’m in a party/playing with someone else and they’re an engineer. Otherwise I back them up with Soldier, sharing ammo and overall slaying the other players while guarding the objective. A Soldier with an Engineer can really roll the opposition in defense if they work together. IWB+Never running out of Ammo+Nadespam = Pain.

Last night I started working on my Medic/Operative and I’m really digging Medic. Too bad that most Human Medics absolutely refuse to help the team as a whole. I see human medics run past me when I’m waiting for 20 seconds to respawn. The Cross is yellow. I know they see that I’m down.

Props for you if whay you say is true. I see ****ty Medics much too often.

In every game with bigger distances you see everyone else fighting, get downed and the medic is like 89m away. 88, 87, 86… He isn’t AFK. You don’t want to wait 5 minutes so you respawn.

Another map. You die. A medic is 28m away and the distance seems like forever. I’d like to slice these peoples’ balls with a rusty screwdriver.

Playing as a medic was the first thing I did in Brink and it isn’t that hard to throw the syringes to the needing. But no, most of medics I see are Medics just because it sounds cool and are always at the sides of the map doing nothing. If you recognize yourself here, this is for you:

Oh wait, if ****ty Medics were self-aware there would be no ****ty Medics at all.

It’s a mix between Medic and Engineer for me, depends what sort of mood I’m in.
Medic for helping everyone out and Engi for Mossington fun and area denial.

Nexo

If I see a guy down and I have the Supplies, I throw em a syringe. I don’t keep just sitting there with my thumb up my butt. As a medic, my priority is healing the ones who are down, not fighting. If I wanted to gun people down, I’d be a Soldier and only a soldier. Medic is Support First, Offence/Defense second.

I will ALWAYS syringe the Objective based class first if we’re near the objective/other medics that will help others, but if we’re not, It’s whomever I get to first.

If people refuse to play as a team, I’ll be less likely to help them. Bad Medics are like Bad Soliders. They see you’re out of Ammo, yet they refuse to throw you an Ammo Pack. It’s sad when a BOT makes a better teammate than a Human player.

lol yeah I think the best medics put their ass on the line to get out heals and revives no matter what. Getting a last minute heal on a friend when they’re in a fire fight with like 1 HP turns the tide and wins them the fight. Suicide is dumb, but if you manage to suicide on top of a grp of 3 downed teammates with laz in hand, everyone’s coming up and you get a free self-rez + Laz (no CD).

Throughout this whole process you can still rack up tons of kills without leaving your team hanging. Of course it depends on my opponents but plenty of times I’ve been best overall, medic, and most kills without my entire team being pissed at me for only self-healing/rezzing and killing.

(Unfurl3dRelic) #11

I have a light sniper medic and I also have an engineer/operative. One of my favorite operative strategies is to disguise and have them meet my mossington at point-blank.

(gr33nf4c3) #12

I don’t have a main class. I’ll play whatever we need right now. I don’t bother skilling my characters really, since on our sever we’ve got a fixed loadout for anybody, so I couldn’t care less about what class to specialise in.

(RabidAnubis) #13

Engineer. I like to build my friends…

And yet, how many lazarus I wasted because people don’t wait for medics… They must be used to being ignored, so they just downfire the crap out of people and tap out. 10ms later, my lazarus lands. doh !

(nephandys) #15

Oh man as a medic that’s the worst. You bust your ass getting all the way in range of that downed person be it for laz or syringe and they tap out! This isn’t so bad if VOIP is on or you’re playing with friends and you can let them know your on the way.

(morguen87) #16

Been experimenting playing as a heavy mostly as medic. Can’t decide if I like the Rhett with a weapon shield and drum mag with the Hjammer or the Rockstedi with a weapon shield and rapid fire magazine with the hjammer better.

A heavy medic is pretty fun, it allows you to kind of play the tanking role as long as you’re aware of cover you can get to quickly to give yourself enough time to inject the life buff when you need it. You don’t want to be out in the open as a heavy as any class and even though you have the ability to heal yourself, medic is no exception; you always want to be close to something you can use as cover if you need to.

The downside is I can’t get to team mates very quickly, but I noticed even when I play a light medic nobody ever waits for a respawn. Everybody has downed fire and gets gibbed.

edit: went back to light medic, much better than heavy medic. Any smg primary feels good, just haven’t found a secondary I feel comfortable with yet.

(Hot-Wire) #17

Engineer is my favorite class, with soldier being next.

I feel the most useful when playing Engineer and I love exploring new places to hide or place turrets.

The soldier is my second choice, because infinite ammo EZnade is the best thing since sliced bread.

(TruGamer97) #18

Engineer because of the weapon buff and mines soldier for the many different grenades to cause trouble with
also heavy soldier with ez nade nough said

(Darrus Dreadtiger) #19

Operative, because i’m a hipster.

Aw, alright.
Operative, because it’s an intricate class. It’s not straightforward and requires more decisions being made in a short time as well as some kind of “acting talent”. I find it highly stimulating to try and infiltrate enemy lines, mark enemies in the front line for my front line to pick off, spot enemy mines and be as much of a nuisiance to the enemy team as possible.

I might not be the best or most experienced, but i’m sure i’ll get better as time goes by. At least I don’t have to bother about exp anymore. All my characters have their DLC skills already.
