What is the ONE thing you want to see in the next update?

(ToonBE) #1

Almost a month ago the game went offline. In my positive thinking I am guessing that the game will return rather soon. So my question is: what is the one think you want to see changed in the next built?

you cannot say: maps, balance or weapon handling because these are too obvious.

for me: testing of matchmaking with an actual ranking system for individual players and for teams.

Ranked matchmaking and lots of people to frag

bring back the benched mercs

The “one” thing! Oh Boy!

Ummmmm…

OBJ Mode Taken off and reworked.

(Glottis-3D) #5

yes. OBJ mode gone (for rework, or for good)
so that it doesnt blur the focus

(prophett) #6

Massive map overhauls/improvements.

I have finally gotten a feel recently on just how different game modes and games can be. I could always go from COD to BF to ET to now DB but CS is another animal.

Example: I dont mind playing CS:GO Casual running in and dieing then playing on my phone or surfing the internet until the match is done. But I recently started playing CS:GO Comp and its terrible; at least for me. Its just not the type of game and style for me. The luck that is involved in CS:GO is unbelievable. Stand still look at a corner and tap the mouse once and hope for a HS because if that first bullet doesnt hit then it all luck.

DB OLTL is going to be so much better then CS because we have medic and teamwork and may other things.

But back to OBJ mode and my point. SW Ranked is not going to be for everyone just like Comp CS:GO is not for me. What are those people going to do? Pub SW in a 7v7 server? That might work BUT they need and I think SD agrees a “Casual” environment. This is where a 3rd mode comes in but not like the current OBJ mode. It has to be a TDM style equal map game mode. Almost like BF and Cap and Hold with a little bit of COD hard point and mix in Cap the flag with CS bomb planting! Easy right!

execition of some sort as a second mode mb.
or reworked obj,

since obj mode is 1 side only. it has to get the feeling of constant push. and constant progression.
more objects. but not necesserily all being evenly difficult. some stages are eazy - but have less time, other stages are difficult - more time to achieve them

lobby / cue system

It feels so 2004, to wanna join a server, but its full, AND nobody wants to join a random empty server for more than 1 min.

People are much more (like 10x) more willing to wait for a server in a lobby where it says “searching”, than to be alone on a server, and maybe 1 connect, and then that person disconnect.

lots of games have both lobby + cue systems, like LoL, COD BO2, Heroes of Newerth, Dota2, CSGO, etc etc

So cue-system, AND match making would be awesome.

I just had a déjà vu by reading the thread title…

Give just 1 thing you would like to see in the next update

We non-alphaplayers cant read that topic you link to, maybe thats why there is a new thread.

More of a thing BEFORE we get the next update: A proper rundown by the developers so we don’t get as many (and some pretty crucial) bugs as we did with the transition to Steam.

True Rex;)

But that is on the closed founders forum which only few people can enter… It also had many replies ragarding maps and shooting mechanics, which is too obvious.

Also doesnt matter to post again before such a big update.

Why don’t you give us a suggestion of something you want to see besides weapon mechanic (like ttk)?:stuck_out_tongue:

In total I’ve probably spend days of my life being queued in W:ET for servers like BiO. Even in DB I’d often opt to wait for a slot to open in a full SW server instead of joining a nearly full OBJ server.

Server cue!

(meat) #17

server cue. I used to use it a lot in etqw, waiting for a slot on my favorite server.

(tokamak) #18

I’ve only seen TF2 do that one truly right. Queing up for a server actually guaranteed you of a spot in the server, eventually. It didn’t line you up, attempt on your turn and then boot you out on a filled server like so many other games.

(demsix) #19

A better movement system and maps designed for that movement system.

It feels like wall jumps and long jumps where just “tacked on”, and the older maps don’t utilise it anywhere near enough. I like the direction Dome was going with much more open maps, but it still felt pretty lacklustre.

I really like the idea of wallriding, similar to Titanfall. But that would definitely upset the feel of the game. If there was a way to implement that to just be used to get around the map you could have some really interesting paths and skill based movement to get around the map. Don’t like the idea of it affecting combat though.

So you’re sprinting at full speed, push space to jump, then while next to the wall you press and hold space again next to the wall to start wall riding and release to jump off again. You could bounce between walls, maybe have a way to control your direction so you select other paths?

Perhaps only allow wallriding when running at full speed and disable the weapon when doing so?

(INF3RN0) #20

Pretty simple for me, I want to see real forward progress beyond tweaking current content or adding to existing volume. I want a more deep and robust meta that pushes the ideas behind the game to their fullest potential. Imo that’s the kind of patch that should have come instead/before the Darwin one, which I interpreted as saying “this is all you’re gonna get” and that’s unfortunate. Not to say that I still don’t enjoy the game and won’t continue to play it for some time, but it’s the difference between being a good game and a great game- that I could see myself playing for a long time. Long term support is hopeful without a doubt, but every game gets really good too late and the impatience of everyone else out there is my fear for DB. Needless to say, if DB doesn’t do it then someone else eventually will.
