What is the best merc for very aggressive playstyle? (close quarters mostly)

I’ve “always” preferred to charge head on to combat (played rtcw/et for years long time ago) and try to overpower the enemy even if going against the odds.

What merc would be the best for this? Haven’t had the time to play much yet, fragger seems like a good choice? I’d prefer a SMG if possible though… I’d like to spend my time on focusing mastering a one merc.

If you want cqc with speed you might like Proxy. She is fast, has a loadout with TWO smgs and can throw mines down to blow up your enemies. If you can get behind their lines you can really wreak some havoc.

The only problem is her health total. It is fairly low… You need to make up for her low HP by avoiding the bullets flying at your face. Speed is key!

I play a Proxy loadout with a shotty and a SMG secondary. They both work the best together, in my opinion, and the SMG finishes off players or gets headshots at medium range.

Nader is definitely not good for in-your-face offense. The GL is a support weapon, and while you can occasionally nail enemies with nades and deal massive damage, it’s not feasible to use it as your primary weapon against direct opposition. She’s best put beside allies who can kill the people that she draws out of cover, or help her push upwards as she beats back a defense.

Fragger with M4A1 instead of his MG. No more spread issues, and you are still very deadly.

Nader and Proxy are really good for flanking the enemy then wreaking havoc with you shotguns, just be careful not to be hit, cause you have very little health.

thanks for the tips.

I’ve been playing proxy for the past couple days and I must say it’s great!

Any opinions on fletcher for fast hit and run action?

(D.C.V.) #9

He is definitely very good. Sometimes I even forget that I’m an engie and go for kills :stuck_out_tongue:

I prefer him over Proxy because he has more health and also because his sticky bombs are way more useful than proximity mines when it comes to hit & run attacks. His shotgun is also more accurate and can also hold more shells(although the lower damage might cause you to lose some duels that you normally wouldn’t).

Proxy is great for smash and run. The double SMG loadouts allow you to fire off 90 rounds (not including her pistol) before reloading.

Skyhammer is good too. He doesn’t have the speed of Proxy but unlimited ammo and his airstrike ability make him deadly.
Any opinions on fletcher for fast hit and run action?
@amaranthCar Fletcher is not the best choive for your playstyle. Like what others said Proxy, Fragger, and Nader Variants would suit you best and I’m sure you’d come to enjoy them. While Fletcher is viable for run and gun, he’s neither fast nor in his elelment there he is far better suited playing the objective and holding the fort for your team.

Honestly any of the shotgunners: Fletcher, Aura or Proxy. Fletcher is most offensive shotgunner with sticky bombs. Aura is more defensive with healing station. And Proxy is more tactical with mines.

its situational, got ppl rushing to flank, try rhino, especially if they using shottys, trying to flank? try proxy high speed and shotty or smg, awesome group clusters in room? Nader or fragger…

Proxy, Nader, Fletcher, Rhino, Aura are all excellent characters for close quarters combat

(Mescman) #15

After three weeks of dirty bombing i’ve come to the conclusion that my close quarters killing squad will be: fragger, fletcher aaand the third one is still tba  Might be nader or some of the mercs that haven’t been released yet.

Special mention goes to fletcher, he’s really fun to play. If the stickies didn’t bug out so often and he had a crotzni/kek-10/hochfir instead of blishlok, I don’t think I’d ever play any other mercs… Thank god for empire-9 though.

I love Fletcher for in your face combat, 6 shot Shotgun seems to have a tighter spread at medium range, and the MP9 style SMG he gets is pretty nasty. Fast and accurate. I have sniped snipers with it. Sticky bombs are great for offense and defensive rolls.

Proxy is faster but less health and as stated Mines are not as useful.

Now that he is out check out Phantom. SMG, fast front lines/behind enemy lines combat and he can take a lot of damage.

I would agree with everyone else and say that Proxy would probably be the best merc for your play style. She has time left in the free rotation, you should definitely try her in game before you decide. Fletcher is also a great merc for what you are looking for, other than that it is your choice.

Rhino is fantastic for the sort of “overpowering” playstyle you’re talking about, though to be very good with the class you’ll also need to know when to back off and hold a position.

(Trakz) #19

I like Nader, she so cute.

(Sentu) #20

its odd but i think aura is a good choice for this med station can be moved to heal you when you need it and the shotgun is really nice + she is fast.
