What is -mv 1024 and -mi 6144 for?

(system) #1

I noticed that line in the documentation but don’t know what thes do? What’s the advantage for my map if i set up this values then i compile my map?

-mv = max vertices
-mi = max indexes (max triangles x 3)

The maximums are per-surface. It allows meta surfaces to be larger than the 64-vertex maximum imposed by vanilla Quake 3/RTCW.

It is ET specific, so don’t try it with any other games.

I posted it in the ET Forums but it gets moved.
thx for the info.

Cool. Are there limits how high you can set these, or performance tradeoffs ?

1024/6144 are the maximum allowed by ET. You may get better results with 512/3072 or 256/1536, depending on the map.
