would be a robot! i heard that there was an concept art but, it was just a concept! i would love to have robot merc, white and yellow for CDA and more made of scrap for jackals!

Do we even know if Javelin is going to be added?

If you look at how many mercs there are for each role…

Assault:
Fragger, Nader, Thunder, Rhino

Fire Support:
Skyhammer, Arty, Stoker, Kira

Medic:
Aura, Sawbonez, Phoenix, Sparks

Engineer:
Proxy, Fletcher, Bushwhacker, Turtle (eventually)

Recon:
Vassili, Aimee, RedEye, Phantom (yes, he is a recon)

…we (will) already have 4 mercs for each of the five roles, and whether Javelin becomes an Assault, Fire Support, or Engi, the balance will be thrown off and perfection lost.

But what if Turtle were made a cyborg instead?

Looking at your way of dividing mercs, I kinda wish there was a 4 merc squad and in each slot you’d pick one merc of each group, instead of “pick 3 mercs you want” squad. Just my opinion.

Unless they make 4 more mercs and make it 25 mercs in total, so we get 5 groups of mercs.

Oh stupid me, this what happens when I skim over text.
I guess what I was suppose to say was, 6 groups.
We could have a “heavy-weaponry” group of some sorts. Or “Light weight”, “Heavy Weight”, “Medium Weight”, but this is too generalized for DB full of specialists.

The 5 groups of 4 makes some nice math, but I don’t think they’ll stop adding mercs just because 20 is a pretty number. (Also, they said there’d be more mercs, but… you know)

This might just be a speculation thread, but it makes me wonder what sort of things are within DB’s realm of reality. It’s near future, the cars look futuristic, some of the merc abilities are futuristic but the guns and characters themselves are pretty grounded in reality. Maybe it’s just the limits of my imagination that can’t fathom a robot merc, unless it was really going down a different avenue than the rest of the mercs.

I’m going to need to draft this idea, thanks.

I actually don’t want Javelin in the game…at least not if she acts like the Panzer class in RtCW/ET. It just wouldn’t work if the blast radius worked like it did in those games and even if it nerfed the rocket would probably still be super fast and still be an instant win button when it’s up…and a lot of players would flock to that. I just don’t think a merc using a rocket launcher works that well without a few limiting factors like fire time not being instant (so you can’t pull it out as an I Win button). But due to the speed of DB that fire time might make Javelin not a good choice. So yeah…I hope they don’t go that route. Of course SD did figure out how to balance Nader so maybe they can figure out something with Javelin.

@Amerika i think something like cooking granades, and add something like sparks charge, when you combine these 2 things you get charged rockets ( charging could affect damage/speed of rocket) but it would be annoying as hell to, because rockets would need some timing, but frag grenades with bigger range and speed? or useless rockets that dont do to much damage
soo yeah balancing her is a hard thing

but turtle will be probably the next merc and javelin was just a concept, and for some reason there was her rocket launcher

Didn’t splash damage said they wanted to implement more and more mercs (possibly a medic) after the release of “classic” mercs ? Btw it’s funny because at the start we were on stream and faraleth and me started yelling “JAVELIN OR RIOT” and now, javelin is taken seriously (i think he wasn’t even in the alpha)

Rocket launcher files are already in the game and testable in offline mode. Name was also a hint/leak/whatever to call it at some devstream ages ago, maybe. Hints towards him/her being reality at some point of the games roadmap have been thrown here and there.

Btw neither has Turtle been around at alpha stages.
