What I think SD should do NEXT

Hi there!

Of course some people would call DB released as you allready can pay fot it. Anyhow I think there is sitll much work to be done. The most im portant things SD should do:

  • provide servers with firendly fire “turned on” -> this will require a much more tactical approach.
  • create more maps -> the creation of “the dome” allredy takes some time but DB will need more maps io to presist.
  • please make DB available on MAC and Linux -> this will even help broaden the fan base.
  • allow for dedicated servers -> PLEASE (/me whispers it in a mild an alluring vioce).

Oh, I forgot to mention that I like the game very much.

Best regards

A lot of UI improvements/fixes and getting MMR into shape. Private lobbies for competitive games. That’s about it. Everything else is “nice to have but not essential” in my book.

A reason for people to solo queue

Linux support & Dedis would both be awesome, however neither is likely to happen.

Thsi would make the training a lot easier! On the other hand those people would perhaps be missed on the pubs that are used for testing?! But i for mysefl do agree.

Thats a good one. There should be some kind of reward. Its hard to solo queue for a long time in order to get your ass handed to yourself (I do get at least)…

good post!

  1. i’m SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sick of playing without FF
  2. need maps that fit objective/stopwatch mode to start with!
  3. especially helps to attract more mature players, lots of my friends don’t use windows anymore
  4. obvious

For now I’m back to playing ETpro

I do support the idea of having DB running on multiple OS’s, however I do disagree with your idea of Mac/Linux users are mature while the windows users are not.

Other things i’d like to see in the near future is some kind of ladder/ranking system. Atm, the only thing I do is to grind levels which btw doesn’t give you anything at all unless you count that sorry little case you get when leveling up.

A laddersystem could solve alot of current issues, such as:
Low level players are getting decimated by the far more experienced players which kind of ruins it for them. It is not fun to try to figure out a game and people shoot you in the face from every single angle. It requires a special kind of dedication and persistence to keep playing this game as an unexperienced FPS/DB player at this point.

A laddersystem would make those top players/experienced players prioritize ladder games instead of public games since it will give them a rank and an idea of how good they are compared to the rest of the DB base of players. Also, this would give SplashDamage a huge oppertunity to monitor abilities and weapons on a higher level of play since you now frankly fair can’t tell if something is super OP or if it’s just the player who are supergood at the game.

All in all, such a system would motivate new players to keep playing untill they reach an apropriate level that accepts them into the ladder matchmaking, and also motivate excisting heroes to battle it out and decide who’s the best.

I think both Team Ladder System and a Solo Queue for random team around same MMR Ladder System would be a good start. That would give solo players progression and teams progression.

About the Maps, I personally don’t understand why people complain so much about it. Dirty Bomb got alot of maps compared to many other games, and it’s just in BETA. However, I would highly suggest to give the community tools to eventually create maps, perhaps some of them are good enough to be taken by Splashdamage and put into the game with a few minor fixes. It works like a charm in both Starcraft 2 community and Counter Strike community, so I don’t see why it would not work here.

Another thing I’d like to discuss is the credits, at this point I got 80k credits and have nothing to use them on. I don’t feel like a case is apropriate use of credits since it’s way too RNG. I would love to be able to buy skins for my mercenaries but sadly they are restricted to those loadout cards.

And last, I feel like the whole loadout card thing is kind of crappy and frustrating.

I do understand gold cards are suposed to be exclusive and all that. But if you had the same luck as me, you would most likely craft that card out from a bunch of leadcards. And it takes alot of effort to get 1 Silver card from lead, and then you need 4 of them for a gold. That is a pain in the ass. Another thing is the randomness of the card you get. What if you worked SO hard to get that gold card by trading, spending lots of credits and lower quality loadout cards, and ending up with a gold card with a loadout you hate. I personally can’t stand the shotgun I have on my Aura and would take the SMG any day. But if I were to get that shotgun loadout card after all that hard work, I’d be crushed. So my suggestion is to either have a specific weapon loadout system like described below or atleast give people the option to trade in the gold card, put in a few credits and hope for another loadout instead.

I would prefer to have a weapon loadout option where you get to pick a combination you would like to load out with that Merc’ and eventually have skins for weapons or merceneries in the store instead that does not affect what loadout of perks and weapons you bring. Also letting players change their loadout manualy with perks, would allow everyone to have the same oppertunities with perks and also let people handcraft a combination of perks that perhaps could open up for special tactics or counterplays.

Sorry for the wall of text, but yea. Had a few things on my mind  Feel free to quote if there is anything you guys highly disagrees with or agrees with for that matter.

I like the ladder idea!

As for the maps. Yes there are some - but the only “new” map is dome which is in the making for quite a long time and many of the friends I play with allready uttered that thed like to see more content mapwise... And just because map creation is not done in a day Id appreciate if SD`d started thinking about it.

Finally. I think you are compeltely right with the loaout thing. One should be able to freely pic the percs one likes. SD could even combine this with tht card idea -> building a bronze card would allow you to pic 3 perks and lock them to the card. If youd like to change the perks you would have to mak a new card... Doing so SD could keep the card system and we could have the loadouts wed like.
