What I dont get about Brink...

Okay. I can understand that the game laggs due to the rush on the first days but there are things I just dont get. BTW Talking about the PC version.

  1. WTF is wrong with the Serverbrowser? This is one of the worst Browsers ever. No filter Options and no Lobbys? No way to join a friend in a private game (doesnt work) this are things i dont get. I mean as a developer of a mp fps you MUST have looked at other games how theyve done it?! Im sick of buying betas to be honest. really like brink but that just sucks…

  2. Performance. I think my 5870 should be able to handle brink quite well but it doesnt. Okay my E8400 3ghz dualcore might limit some games like bfbc 2 but in brink its half the players and no cpu heavy world destruction so i doubt this is the reason. And Im not talking about spikes, im talking about avarage fps. it just doesnt run as smooth as expected judging the visuals brink offers. (Tried the ati hotfix, but it made it unplayable. Got back to catalyst 11.2 wich gave me a huge performance boost but it still feels chunky…)

  3. The “Hype”. Okay Brink wasnt that big hype. But I saw some promo videos and the devs were something like "revolution im MP gaming where sp and mp merge together. To be honest. This is simply a lie and a form of cheating the consumers. This game is an absolute normal mp game. the sp is the mp with bots. We had that in BF 1942 too (bf had the better server browser though  )?! Dont see the revolution.

Anyways. Still like the game. just dont get it why they left out so much potential.

There are filter options (click on the icon on the right in the appropriate collumn). For private games make sure the host has the right ports (27015 & 27016) forwarded in his/her router.

Yeah, lobbies are missed and performance is poor.

Hi!
1.There are filter options. They are not ideal (yet) but better then nothing
2.Ati users are having framerate problems and they are working on it
3.Aye

  1. Okayyyy there are filter options but thats more like a alpha version filter. no drop down menues?! Having to type everything? w00t? Thats not good at all…
  2. I know that they are workin on it but i dont understand why. The performance is so poor that they MUST have noticed it before release. Since it seems to occure on nearly every ati user. Making me think even more, that we are betatesters right now… hate greedy devs and publishers… makes me mad about a good game… so unnecessary…

  1. Yeah I agree but I’m not bothered for now. #2 bothers me more:
2.I’m an ati user. Performance is bad :frowning: I will try 11.2 ,11.5 did nothing for me.

I don’t think the devs are greedy though. I don’t know what happened but I always feel
they have much heart for their games without dollarsigns in their eyes.

The filters are stupid and there is no explanation as to how to fully utilize them. It’s like, SPLASH DAMAGE, DID YOU EVEN TRY WITH BRINK!?

Like, even for the simple task of trying to ignore servers that have no current players, there’s no explanation of how to do so.

One thing I don’t get about Brink is, how Bethesda and Splash Damage figured they could release a copy-pasted game that poorly implemented everything they were copy-pasting from previous games with $20 worth of content at $50 and NOT expect this game to flop and die.

This. I have been playing this game and love it, but, I just don’t understand how it is that they thought this was releasable?? Completely unfinished and missing key features.

Jesus Christ.

Agreed. I’ve played games in Beta that where more polished than Brink is. Splash Damage, are you really incompetent enough to not recognize that your game was a buggy mess with huge issues? Did you not care, or was it a case of the publisher pushing for a release date?

Brink had a ton of potential to be a ground breaking game, but you may have really dropped the ball here. Its not like you have the cushioning of a franchise. DICE can get away with the battlefield series’s track record of having lag issues upon release because they also have a record of making very good games and people will put up with it. You don’t have that, and I get the feeling that a lot of people who would have enjoyed this game will pick it up, get frustrated because of any number of bugs or lag, and never play it again.

Unfortunately, unfinished products seem to be a trend in releasing games nowadays…

hm… serverbrowser is fine
about framerate… i dont know. I played Brink on 2 different PC;'s, one with nvidia gtx 580 and second with nvidia gtx 275 (old card) and on both was brink smoots on 1920*1080 without any lag.

(gtx275 with old drivers! and no problems at all)
