Where does the game go once all 19 (21 if Aimee and Javelin make it in) Mercs are added to the game?
What happens once all the Mercs are released?
prob new mercs or end of game support , hopefully doe we get more new mercs after that , also devs said they have plans for other merc concepts and not only the closed beta or alpha ones
Have they given us a definitive number of Mercs they plan on having, how many maps and gamemodes, and the like?
Sky is the limit. There are no plans to stop at any fixed number. Only stopping factor would be when the game stops being financially viable.
As long as the game is popular and they are making money I’d wager they will continue to support it. They did say they are working pretty hard on things like new maps, mercs and even modes (despite saying DM will never be in). So there are new mercs being designed but they haven’t said who they are or when they will come out.
Already been confirmed several times there will be more mercs coming after the already announced ones. Currently, the only ones confirmed for release are Thunder, Aimee and Turtle.
Javelin was rumored a long time ago, but was never in the game to my knowledge. There will definitely be more after this, and some already have concept work done for them…
@Faraleth there’s a rocket launcher in the game so I guess that belongs to javelin
@pxK Yep, it does
Sound files, as well as things like area-of-effect and proper collisions aren’t done for it yet though… so it’s very glitchy if you try to use it via console commands XD
Something probably worth noting though - it’s a weapon, technically, not an “ability weapon” (you can inspect it). This could mean if/when we see him/her it might be their primary or secondary weapon… but if that’s the case, let’s just hope that they don’t screw it up like Phantom, where only 1/3 of his loadouts have his signature weapon. XD
@Faraleth Well, last time I used it it had a cooldown between shots so that would kinda suck as a primary

I’m pretty sure you could inspect Nader’s Launcher if you got it through console commands so I’m guessing its the same thing with the Javelins rocket launcher.
They confirmed Aimee? How the hell are they planning on making her not redundant with Vas?
Neither was Turtle, and he’s confirmed. Maybe that’s what that winky face is for.
Hopefully they’ll look through the merc and skin suggestions page, and see if they like anything
@Armuhsin Hmm, I didn’t actually know that… I may be wrong then! xP Was merely an observation I noticed when testing it out. :3
Turtle wasn’t playable in Closed Beta. Doesn’t mean he was never in the game… ^.^

Why can’t you Inspect any of the Ability weapons? I’m rather curious. For that matter, Ability weapons don’t have skins like normal weapons do, what gives? Why is there no gameplay purpose to the Inspection feature, and why is there no guitar melee that the Merc plays while inspecting?
That’s probably what it’s for. Then again, maybe they won’t like anything, or maybe they won’t be able to go through all fourteen pages (and counting!) of it. But what do I know? And what business do I have speculating, I have threads in there.
While new mercs are always nice (if ever harder to balance well), what the game needs much more to keep players interested are more maps. Too many game types just divide the playerbase - although versions of the well-known domination/conquest and capture the flag gametypes should be simple to implement quickly.

@Samniss_Arandeen
I really hope they at least tell people that they’ll be looking through Merc and Skin Suggestions, once they’re done with all current mercs, just so it gets a little more traffic.

The grenade launcher he’s referring to is a variation of Nader’s signature ability weapons because it’s also a primary with ammo and such, but there’s also the ability grenade launcher which you can’t inspect.
Well, then they make more mercs until all niches are satisfied, and then we get more weaponry and maps.
Still waiting on that crossbow merc with varied bolts that the forums came up with.
