My biggest enemy with any game these days is time, not through choice, it’s just how it is. Incidentally I bought the stalker pack when it was on sale on steam which came with CoP, so going by what you say I may just kick off with that instead and save SoC for the times when I can sit down for a couple of hours. But yes you’re right, I should have known there’d be a mod to fix something annoying that can’t be controlled in-game. As to the other stuff, I guess with the influx of new ‘colourful’ characters on the forum these days, my hackles are up quicker than usual, apologies.
