yup, cause its up to the developers to hand-pick players for their own game
Yeah, because skill brackets are obviously too difficult to implement. The bad players get owned by the good ones and whine about hacks, the good ones lose interest because the quality of matches is very poor.
Are you talking about competitive or casual at this point?

Competitive has a ranking system, but a LOT of people are either unranked or getting matched against unranked players. It doesn’t help that pre-mades can be paired against solos.

Casual will never have a rank system in place for quickjoin/server browser. Casual is for jumping in and out of a match and has a lot of variable in skill level.
Does it matter? I am not just talking about players that aren’t quite so good, I am talking about players that never give ammo, never revive, ignore the objectives, can’t aim, barely manage a few kills per match and number in the thousands. There is literally nothing you can do when you get 3-4 of them on your team, which has been very common today. It is usually bad, but today it has been insane. I have not had a match today that didn’t have at least 6 really, really, really bad players, and only a small handful of them were level 1 (which is fair enough).

I would rather play with bots on my team instead of some of these players. I swear most of them are using a potato to aim instead of a mouse. At least now I am willing to agree that this game does feel like Team Fortress 2, but only because of the ridiculous level of astonishingly bad players.
There are level 10+ servers up now. Sadly though I’ve never seen people actually on them because I doubt too many people even know they exist due to the seriously low amount of filter options we have.
Ah right, thanks, that is worth knowing. I agree though, the filter options are pretty bad, it would be good to have region and level filters added.
The filter by server name is your friend btw.

I leave all of the filters at default(usually) and just type ‘US EAST - Obj’ or ‘US EAST - Stop’ and it just gives me those exact servers without refreshing every time I change a filter. No ping filter is needed because it is only sending me my region and no game mode filter because I set it in the name. You can do this with max level and min level servers as well.

i just type ‘min’ to get the min lvl servers.

Still; it would be nice if a filter acted before the browser tries to download information of ALL the servers IN THE WHOLE WORLD.

Exactly. I can find any server I want by typing. I know how to use filters. The problem is a lot of people don’t know how to use them properly or don’t want to spend the time. Or simply want to use Quick Join. Instead of having quick filter options the game gives a player very little choice.

I would be happy with servers dedicated for good players that want to play without the nimrods dragging the matches down. If any join they can always be vote kicked if necessary, although I imagine being up against an entire team of players that can actually aim would be enough to make them steer clear. Just a thought.

As for competitive play, I am staying clear until the aimbot problem is solved, not worth the stress.

And how do you propose to sort the ‘nimrods’ from the ‘good’ players?

Easy, we do it ourselves. Set aside some servers, label them as for skilled players only, and let people join as they please. If a player is really bad, his team can vote kick him, but like I said, bad players tend to not stick around when they are getting slaughtered, and they will against good players. And if they do decide to stick around, they might learn something and improve their play.

At the moment, skilled players are few and far between in casual matches, there are always a couple in every match, but the bulk of players are really bad. Giving the good ones their own servers to play on would eliminate a lot of the randomness (and currently being able to choose a server gives little benefit, it is pot luck whether you find a good match or not).

It isn’t a perfect solution by any means, but it is better than 100% random, the difference in skill between a very good player and a really bad player is far too large, it just creates badly balanced matches that turn into complete clusterfucks with little teamwork. Skill bracketing would be good for the game, for the vast majority of players.

minlvl10 servers do this very well already. I’ve seen better players and better games than anywhere else. Also the only place I ever saw successful votekicks against cheaters, who are easily spotted among us, more experienced players.

(immenseWalnut) #28

I have yet to play on one, so I couldn’t really say, but I hope that is the case. Will give it a go tomorrow, I have given up for tonight, feeling far too drained.

Well. I hope it was a good review and encouraged people to play. Tried to watch it but couldn’t make it 2 minutes before I cringed out.

Mmm, I am happy if it brought more players to the game, though I think I am actually too old to enjoy whatever it is that they… yeah. Yay.
